I love seeing Justin Schultz, DeAngelo and Dumba in your top 35. Any chance you've got a feel for when DeAngelo cracks the TB lineup? I have feeling he'll push the issue and make it for the '16-17 season. Maybe even a cup of coffee or two this year if injuries occur.

I'd be interested in the reasoning why Letang is this low.

Should I "trade up" to land Barrie? I can't get myself around to believe he isn't worth significantly more than that. I do know about the injuries, but 60 games from him and 20 from a FA replacement should still result in more points than 80 games from any other D on this list not named Karlsson (and maybe Subban).

    Did I miss something?

Injury risk, you know that ;)

I am surprised to not see Alex Edler's name anywhere on this list. This is why:

    11/12 – T6th in overall D scoring
    12/13 – T25th in overall D scoring
    13/14 – 76th (The forgetableTorts year)
    14/15 – T48th in overall D scoring
    15/16 – Dobber Guide say 32 points

    – Last season the 100th highest point getting D had 19 points
    – Edler is the undisputed #1D in Vancouver this year

Not nitpicking, just surprised. I had to look this up this info.. I thought I would share what I found.

I don't have a lot of use for a defenseman who gets 32 points, in a points-only format. He wouldn't make my Top 4 or even my Top 6 for that matter.

I don't see how Yandle is #3 when he was pretty terrible after his trade to the Rangers (and really not great before that w/ the Yotes) PLUS McDonagh is all the way down at #44.

Also, I can't see why Calvin deHaan would be any higher than than Boychuk or Pulock (or Hamonic for that matter) when he doesn't have much of an ability to shoot the puck.

    • Dobber Sports 2015-09-30 at 18:36

Remove the first nine games after the trade and Yandle's numbers actually improved. If you bought the Guide you'd know this ;)

I have a soft spot for de Haan, being in the Oshawa area. Hope that helps.

WOW! This list is all askew. Seems to be a lot of one season production along with the chance of production, ahead of proven production. Cody Ceci ahead of TJ Brodie by a county mile. It's ballzy to put Derrick Pouliot at #40. That chubby regard needs learn the PRO game and compete consistently at a high level. Before he even cracks the top 50 list. Same goes for Anthony DeAngelo whos never laced them up for a regular season game. This is like the "Slots Jockeys" wrote this list. Trying to say theres skill involved in coin bingo……..Come on DeAngelo get 48pts, 120hits, 140Blks & 100pims.

In this points-only format, once a defenseman becomes a dime a dozen (i.e. 35-39 points) then I'd much rather have the potential guy in terms of trade talks.

Pouliot is a stud, come on. Most offensive talented rearguard in a system that will score PP goals like crazy.
