Lining Up: Week 3

The hottest lines in fantasy hockey for Week Four.

Lead us forwards…..

Leon DraisaitlTaylor HallRyan Nugent-Hopkins (Edmonton)

If you haven’t got Draisaitl fever yet… you will soon. Leon was the third player taken in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. In his first two games with the Oilers this season he’s dropped five points. Will this production continue? Possibly. I mean he’s getting time on a line with elite talent. I think Draisaitl is worth a look in the short term as he can continue to produce if he stays with Hall and the Nuge.

  • EV Strength Production = 8 points
  • PP Production = 7 points

David DesharnaisTomas FleischmannDale Weise (Montreal)

Who says Desharnais needs Max Pacioretty! No that isn’t a typo down below, this line has produced a staggering 14 points over the past week at even strength. The Canadians have scored 14 goals in their last three games. Montreal might actually be fine over the next week or so without their golden boy Carey Price. Fleischmann has been a pleasant surprise so far this season for the Canadians as he currently has ten points on the season. Although his production will obviously slow, the Flash is worth adding in deeper leagues as he can hit 50 points this season. Montreal is looking like a solid team and with added scoring depth now they could potentially go deep in the post-season. I think adding one more offensive piece would make the Canadians a front runner for the cup, maybe someone like Eric Staal

  • EV Strength Production = 14 points

Patrice BergeronBrett ConnollyBrad Marchand (Boston)

The Bruins are firing on all cylinders this season. I don’t think many of us expected this surge in goal scoring considering they lost many key players in the off-season (e.g. Lucic, Soderberg, Smith, etc). Boston sits third in the NHL for goals scored and their PP is clicking at godlike rate of 35.3% which tops the NHL. This line has made some noise over the past week and Marchand has been a rotisserie beast with nine points, 21 PIM, and a shorty for leagues that count SHP. Connolly is worth keep an eye on as he’s currently riding a six-game point streak. Let’s not forget that Connolly was a first round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and the potential is there.

  • EV Strength Production = 6 points

Jeff CarterMilan LucicTyler Toffoli (Los Angeles)

Many of us expected Anze Kopitar to be a boss this year as last season wasn’t his greatest. However, all the talk in LA has been about Toffoli as he’s been automatic to start the season. Tyler currently has nine goals on the season which puts him atop the league for goal scoring tied with Jamie Benn. After a slow start, Lucic has potted seven points in his last seven games. And Carter continues to provide the secondary scoring that the Kings dearly need as the top line looks to be in disarray. Now would be a great time to BUY LOW on Kopitar. We saw this last season with Kopi and he rebounded in the second half to salvage his year last season.

  • EV Strength Production = 5 points
  • PP Production = 2 points

Defend this…..

Roman JosiShea Weber (Nashville)

This pairing is money. Both of these guys will drop a minimum of 45 points this season with solid peripherals. It seems as if Josi has taken the reigns from Weber as the must own rearguard in Nashville, however, if Weber gets back to doing this… I wouldn’t be so sure. Nonetheless, you can continue to roll these guys with confidence as they will continue to produce straight across the board.

  • EV Production = 1 point
  • PP Production = 4 points

Jared SpurgeonRyan Suter (Minnesota)

Suter has started the season red hot as he currently has ten points in 11 games. Before the season began I had Suter pegged for a career year and this torrent start is definitely encouraging. The Wild are currently sixth in the league in goals scored as they have 35. I feel that Minnesota will remain in the top ten come seasons end as they have a ton of goal scoring depth. Suter will benefit from this boost in goal scoring and post career highs across the board. If you own Suter… STAND PAT. His current production will obviously slow, however, he will remain a top defenseman for the remainder of the season.

  • EV Strength Production = 2 points

Drew DoughtyJake Muzzin (Los Angeles)

I expect big things from Doughty this season and he’s really turned it on as of late with five points in his last three games. The Kings as a team seem to be turning a corner and now maybe the time to jump on Doughty before he really starts to take off. Drew currently has only one PPP on the season but that should change and when he starts to roll on the man-advantage… watch out.

  • EV Strength Production = 2 points
  • PP Production = 2 points
