Top Budget Plays

Centers

Vernon Fiddler$2,900 –I'm sure no one really understands this but Fiddler has two shorthanded goals in as many games. He always has been a valuable penalty killer but he is capable of some offense now and then. His 21 points in 52 games may not be so great but the last few games have seen a slight increase in ice time and he possibly could be that next winger on the top line in Dallas. Hey, why not take a shot, right?

Wingers

Alex Tanguay $2,800 –It is not often to see a winger so low on the food chain but here is Tanguay and that is a good thing. Yes Colorado really has struggled most of the season but the left winger does have 36 points in 53 games including 14 goals. What may be more frustrating is the fact that Tanguay has one power play goal all season. Despite all this, he does provide some value. Just watch where he is slotted on Saturday but regardless he may drift into some PP2 time. Hey there are worse value options out there but few, if any, have this much point potential.

Defensemen

Danny DeKeyser $2,700– I contemplated recommending a few players but DeKeyser should slot into a pretty favorable matchup against a Winnipeg team where nobody knows which defense will show up for the Jets. Your guess as good as anyone's. The defenseman is still only 24 years old but does have 20 points in 51 games this season (four assists in his last ten contests). It could be a nice and cheap play that really works for all of the owners who actually take a shot with him.

Goalie

Cam Talbot $6,700 –Arizona can be a bit nightmarish for the New York Rangers at home but this year the Coyotes average just a little over two goals a game in Glendale while the Rangers average 3.08 goals per contest on the road. Yes Talbot has had some uneven moments in his first five starts but he has also had some brilliant moments as well. There may be some other cheap candidates in Winnipeg, Toronto, maybe even Minnesota. There are lots of possibilities often as the day goes on but if all else fails, Talbot is a pretty nice failsafe.
