The best plays for daily fantasy hockey, November 12th.

Top Budget Plays

Centers

Jordan Martinook $3400 – The center is consistently playing between 15:30 and 16:00 of ice time. He is also getting a little taste of power play time and while Arizona nurses more wounds, Martinook is thriving in his last two games with three points. Now, the Coyotes do have a pretty good match-up against a Boston team with questionable depth on defense.

Wingers

Paul Byron $3600 – There is just a theme here that the risks must get higher. Byron actually has points in his last three games and scored the first goal on Thursday against Los Angeles. It just seems like Montreal is getting good mini runs from players and Byron is the latest. This kind of value getting top six ice time is more common this time of year than people think. One just has to dig a little.

Defensemen

Matt Irwin $3300 – Early on, taking risks in moderation is paramount in DFS hockey. Irwin is a humongous one because of his lack of ice time. However, he generates opportunities when he is on a streak. The defenseman is on an incredible one right now as he has five points in seven games. There are not many values on DraftKings but honestly Irwin is one that people still have not fully noticed.

Goalie

Robin Lehner $7200 – Lehner is a interesting proposition in GPP’s because of his low price and the fact that New Jersey is shooting around 30 shots a game on the season but still is scoring at a very low rate. The Buffalo goalie has a solid .929 save percentage on the year and makes for a nice contrarian play against New Jersey. Yes, it is the back end of a home and home but Buffalo is a team that can tend to get under the Devils’ skins.

Since we saved some money on the budget plays let’s look at the few of the pricey options that are worth paying up for today.

Centers

Sidney Crosby $8300 – Crosby is going to be a heavy play in cash and GPP’s because Toronto is on the back end of a back to back and their defense is vulnerable. The center has nine goals in eight games and is shooting at over 30% on the year. That may not cool off anytime soon and even if he does not score a goal, he is likely to gain a few assists maybe. He is a center who will put Toronto on their heels early and often.

Wingers

Brad Marchand $7100 – Though Marchand has cooled considerably off his torrid hot start. The fact that his five-game point streak has been snapped means little as Arizona is still allowing well over three goals per contest. People can pivot to Nikita Kucherov but Marchand and that top Boston line stacks up well against a very youthful Coyotes team defense. Few think that Arizona can stifle an opponent twice in a row.

Defenseman

Mark Giordano $6200 – So this might be a trap but Giordano is in a good spot against a Rangers team flying out to play the Northwest Passage. First stop is against a Calgary team that is still trying to find its way. However, the speed at which Giordano and T.J. Brodie can move the puck. The Rangers have a tough time away from home so do not be surprised if the Flames pull off a bit of a surprise here.

Goalie

Carey Price $8300 – The choices out there may appear to be better but it is hard to go away from a goalie who has won nine straight starts! Price is not just on fire but it is ridiculous. People have to keep playing him especially in cash lineups until he loses. That is the bottom line. The goalie is facing 33+ shots a night though he got a bit of a breather against Los Angeles. Detroit’s top line will be formidable but they play a little different on the road. It could be number ten for the Montreal goalie.
