Fantasy Impact: Teemu Selanne is back with Anaheim for one more year. The veteran winger inked a $2 million deal earlier today.
The Ducks get: One of the greatest scorers in the history of hockey back for one more year. Selanne has lost a step or two (or three) over the past few years, but he still has the ability to be a productive forward.
However…
Selanne’s final 27 games,last season: 6 goals, 1 assist, minus-13

Fantasy Players Impacted: Selanne will definitely take up a top-nine spot, and potentially a top-six spot. This means less ice time for one of the younger forwards. Selanne is a RW, so the younger LW’s need not worry… although they may slide down the depth chart a bit for the time being.
Dustin Penner probably “should” be the odd man out, but he will get every opportunity to click on that top unit. If he struggles, expect the Ducks to bump him down (or off) the roster in short order. They have too many talented young players who are ready to make an impact at this level.
Teemu definitely announced his return in a creative manner:
Potential lineup for opening night:
Penner-Getzlaf-Perry
Silfverberg-Koivu-Selanne
Cogliano-Bonino-Winnik
Etem-Holland-Palmieri/Beleskey
At the very least, this move gives Bruce Boudreau a lot of options up front.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Selanne?
2. Koivu
3. Bonino
4. Holland
5. Silfverberg
6. Sami Vatanen
7. Cam Fowler
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Palmieri
2. Etem
3. Beleskey
4. Devante Smith-Pelly
5. Patrick Maroon
