The Habs have avoided arbitration by signing Michael Ryder to a contract. It is a one-year deal.
Final roster is set for the Expert Division of the DobberHockey Expert League. See 'Announcements for the complete list.
Tomas Fleischmann, Jakub Klepis and John Erskine are the unsigned Caps. Negotiations are ongoing with all three of them.
The Habs have made Patrice Brisebois an offer – $700,000. I don't trust his back to let him play more than 60 games regardless.
The Boston Globe is reporting that with a glut of pivots on the roster there may be a trade in the works. With Savard, Bergeron, Kessel and Soderberg all deserving first or second-line status, plus Ben Walter and David Krejci ready to make the jump, the team is in a bit of a jam. Obviously they will move Kessel to the left side and the may consider moving Bergeron to the right. That would make all the pieces fit…but that would push Schaefer and Axelsson to the fourth line and Chistov right off the team. I think if Soderberg impresses in camp, they will move a player or two. I don't see Walter playing for Boston this year.
Slow slow day for hockey news, we have reached rock-bottom for the summer…
