The Islanders are reportedly interested in signing Jason Allison. Stay tuned for that one. 

Apparently, one year ago David Vyborny signed a two-year contract and made it clear that it would be his last in the NHL, as he wanted to return to the Czech Republic so his son could know more about where he came from. The Columbus Dispatch now reports that he has had a change of heart and is willing to sign on long term. His role under Ken Hitchcock was less than it was under Gerard Gallant, so if I were him I would wait and see how the first couple months of this season goes first.

Reports out of Russia indicate that the Ottawa Senators will have three new Russian faces in camp. Ilya Zubov, ranked 156 on my prospects list will shoot up that list with the news, as he has reportedly obtained his release from his Russian club. He has a lot of offensive upside. Alexander Nikulin, ranked 139 on my list but with lower upside than Zubov, was confirmed a long time ago and reported here. Dimitri Megalinsky, a two-way defenseman, is the other Russian, but his release has not yet been confirmed. 

Ryan Craig's arbitration hearing was yesterday, as was Mike Cammalleri's. Trent Hunter, meanwhile, was awared $1.55 million. The three players should hover around 40, 55 and 75 points respectively this season.

The Habs suffered a big loss yesterday. They signed Patrice Brisebois to a one year deal. It's called "subtraction by addition". Lucky for them, I don't trust his back and he will likely play under 50 contests.

Petr Tenkrat has signed to play in Sweden next season – not unexpected.

J.P. Vigier signed to play in the Swiss League next season – a little unexpected, but no big fantasy loss.
