Ryan Callahan may have sprained his knee, or worse. Indications are that it is a mild sprain, but he is going for an MRI today and will likely not dress tomorrow. Greg Moore or Alex Bourret will be recalled to take his spot. To make room for another forward, Thomas Pock had to be waived. Bourret has five points in five games in the AHL, but has yet to play an NHL game. If he's the one, I'll be paying attention to how he does in his debut.

The Leafs have recalled Jiri Tlusty from the Marlies. Tlusty has three points in five AHL games this season. He will play in his first career NHL game on a line with Nik Antropov and Boyd Devereaux. Simon Gamache may be the odd man out, but we shall see.

The Toronto Sun is reporting that forward Tony Salmelainan has left the Maple Leafs for "personal reasons", returning to Finland. He won't return and the Leafs have suspended him.

Scottie Upshall is taking light contact in practice and is looking as if he will return the first or second week of November.

Niittymaki will make his first start of the season for the Flyers on Thursday. Biron starts tonight.

Mike Van Ryn is questionable for tonight's contest with his strained knee.

David Aebischer has been waived by the Coyotes, meaning they will go with Tellqvist and Auld. Aebischer is the guy I thought would win this battle…but it's six of one, half dozen of the other really. Freddy meyer has also been placed on waivers to make room for Zbynek Michalek.

When he gets hot, he gets hot. I also find that when he is benched or is made a healthy scratch, he explodes. I'm talking, of course, about Ladislav Nagy. Another three points last night to give him four in two games since he was a scratch and he now has seven points in eight games. If he's found his game, then the Kings have two huge scoring lines and last night's six-goal outburst is the type of offense you can expect from them.

Another tough one for Chris Mason. He got the hook again after giving up four goals on just 19 shots. He's killing me in two pools – including the DobberHockey experts league. He'll turn it around, but I'm wondering if it won't happen until Shea Weber returns…

Jack Johnson suffered a muscle cramp late in the second period and did not play in the third, but Kings Coach Marc Crawford said he did not think it was a serious injury.

Yanic Perreault was a healthy scratch on Tuesday.

Patrick Kane had a four-point night last night. He has nine points in his last three games. He is back playing with Ruutu (who got three points) and Toews (who got one).

Rene Bourque was back in the Chicago lineup last night. He played 10 minutes and was a minus-3. Sergei Samsonov was also a minus-3.

Ryan Getzlaf suffered an upper body injury during the second period of Tuesday's game and did not return.

Rob Niedermayer missed last night's contest with a groin injury.

Anaheim assigned Jonas Hiller to Portland of the AHL. He will be recalled when Bryzgalov is dealt.

Marc-Andre Fleury seemed to have found his game, stopping 36 shots in a shutout win. He was the game's first star.

Brandon Bochenski was sent to Providence of the AHL. He would normally have to go through waivers, but the team is calling it a "conditioning stint". He dressed for one NHL game this season and played zero minutes.

The Flames assigned Curtis McElhinney to Quad City and recalled Matt Keetley. Keetley is 1-1-1 in AHL action, with a .916 SV% and 2.26 GAA.

The injury to Pavol Demitra has caused the Wild to recall former Oshawa General Cal Clutterbuck. He won't see a lot of ice time, but he may get a peak on Gaborik's line.

Anton Stralman played his first career game last night. He played just over 14 minutes and logged 40 seconds on the power play, but did not look out of place.

Boyd Devereaux was back in the Toronto lineup last night.

Eric Perrin had a three-point night for Atlanta and he bears watching. He saw significant time with Kovalchuk and he also tends to be streaky.
