Alexander Edler logged over 22 minutes last night and had over 3 minutes on the PP.  He will get a lot of opportunities with Krajicek/Bieksa/Salo all out long term.

Kovalchuk has been on a tear since the Hartley firing, and posted back-to-back hattricks over the past two games.  He is the extremely streaky and should contend for the Rocket Richard this season.

In one of the feel-good stories of the year, Al Arbour returned behind the Isles bench as a special guest coach and recorded a 3-2 win in the 1500th game of his career coaching for the Isles. Also in this game Rick Dipietro left the game after Crosbys stick went through his cage and into his eye in the 2nd period. He is to be reevaluated Monday so watch this situation carefully. If he is not 100% watch for "DOOBIE" to get a couple of starts.

Roenick recorded the 499th goal of his career in San Jose's 3-1 win over the Kings Saturday night. JR only played 7 mins. and was seen being squirted with the water bottle by several Shark players for yapping too much.

Gagne has been cleared for full practice after experiencing concussion like symptoms for over 10 days now. Joffrey Lupul did an admirable job filling in on the top line which bodes well for his fantasy future in Phili. Expect to see Gagne back within the next 2 games.

As I stated yesterday Gerber did in fact start for Ottawa and was only lightly tested, giving up 2 goals on 19 shots. We will probably see Emery tonight simply because of the back-to-back games and not because Gerber played badly. Nick Foligno was a healthy scratch last night for the Sens.

Marc Antoine Pouliot has been sent down by the Oilers to make room for anyone who can play defence out there.

In Schneider's 2nd game back, he played over 20 mins. and recorded 2 points. This guy just keeps getting better with age. Also Perry and Getlaf both recorded 3 points, while Perry also fought former OHL badboy Daniel Carcillo. I love Perry especially in leagues that counts PIMS.

St:Louis rookie David Perron recorded his 1st NHL goal last night. He now has 3 points in 5 games. Last night he played 17 mins. including 4 on the PP and was the game's 2nd star. Might be time to grab this guy in keeper leagues. He is small but can really get things done offensively. With the Blues aging forward corps this guy will be gold in a few years.

Backstrom was back between the pipes for the Wild last night and gave up 1 goal on 24 shots. This team just seems to play more confident with him in the net. James Sheppard saw significant time with Gaborik on his wing and recorded 1 assist, while Gaborik had 3 points. Pouliot played under 7 mins.

Sean Avery returned to the lineup for the Rangers for the first time in a month. He played over 13 mins and did record 1 minor penalty. Lundquist was awesome again and Gomez notched a point in his 3rd straight game-maybe his early season funk is over.

Erik Johnson is very very close to returning to the blues lineup. We will see him in the next 2 games for sure.

Kyle Wellwood's hernia seems to have finially turned the corner and he will probably play by Thursday. Tuesday night we will see Mark Bell so Gamache will most likely be out and Belak will sit Thursday to make room for Wellwood. Still no Mccabe which is proably a good thing for the leaf goalies.

Milan Hedjuk has now played 2 games with no points after returning from his back discomfort. Let's hope he is okay for the rest of the season. This team can really crank up the offence if he is healthy like they did in the 2nd half of last season.

Noah Welch will have surgery on his injured shoulder on Monday, while Olesz got the stitches out of his hand. He is still a few weeks away.

The Rangers have loaned Darius Kasparatius to St:Petersburg of the Russion Super League. I wonder if they are trying to stay in good standing with officials there so they don't have difficulty getting Cherepanov out next year??

The struggling Tampa Bay goaltending was just what the Thrashers needed to get some confidence in their offence. A 6-4 win last night. Kovalchuk has been on fire and Hossa is starting to wake-up. Look-out for this team, they had quit on Hartley and are still good enough to calim a playoff spot in the East.
