The Ducks have signed Getzlaf to a five-year contract extension reportedly worth $26 million.

Tuukka Rask will get his first career NHL start tonight against Toronto.

John McDonough has quit his post as president of the Chicago Cubs and has been signed as the new president of the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Coyotes placed Alex Auld on waivers yesterday. Teams have until noon today to pick him up.

There is a strong possibility that Colby Armstrong will play with Malkin and Christensen when he gets back into the lineup. He practiced there yesterday.

Mike Peca could be back in the Jackets' lineup tomorrow. Fred Modin is still a ways away (back spasms).

Columbus line combos: Novotny with Nash and Zherdev. Fedorov with Glencross and Vyborny.

Dave Bolland was sent to the minors yesterday. Kris Versteeg was recalled.

The Flames sent don Matt Keetley and recalled Curtis McElhinney to be their backup.

The Sharks also swapped their backup, sending Patzold down and calling Thomas Greiss up.

There's a "good chance" that Chicago tough guy David Koci will be back in the lineup Thursday.

Phil Kessel leads the Bruins with 45 shots on net. He has just three points in seven games though.

Kovalchuk and Hossa have 30 points in their last eight games combined.

Tim Connolly is questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Ottawa. He is suffering from an abdominal strain.

By all accounts, Thomas Vanek had his best game of the season Friday, so perhaps he's turned the corner.

The good news? Erik Cole was back in practice and skating hard. The bad? He fell and tweaked his neck, leaving practice. He was shooting to return to the lineup Wednesday, but is now questionable for that game.

Scott Walker also practiced with the team, but wore the no-contact jersey.

Chicago's jason Williams is doubtful for Thursday with a groin injury.

Khabibulin will start the next two games. Lalime will start Sunday against the Canucks.

Bertuzzi has been cleared for full contact and will likely accompany the team to Dallas tomorrow.

Mathieu Schneider is also expected to be back.

Eleven of Boyes' 12 goals this season have come at home.

Manny Legace has not allowed more than three goals in a game this entire season. I warned you this could happen in my fantasy guide…

Attention poolies that look for PIM's – Vancouver has a rematch with Minnesota Wednesday and they brought in muscle – sending down Jannik Hansen and bringing up tough guy Mike Brown. Brown got into two fights during preseason for the Canucks. There is bad blood between the teams after the Ohlund slash on Mikko Koivu. Derek Boogard has not minced his words.

Alexander Semin was back in the lineup and is 100%. He scored in the Caps loss.

Rusty Olesz returned to the Florida lineup from his hand injury. He played 10:21, with 3:13 on the PP.

After going two games in a row without a point since his return, Spezza picked up three last night.

Terrible night in the expert league. My goalie cats are the worst still, and not only did Mason lose, but Dallas got a shutout…. with Turco on the bench! That was just to rub it in my face.

Jason Arnott missed last night's contest with a strained neck. It doesn't sound serious though.

I was looking through the summaries last night and noticed that 10 of the 12 teams failed to record 30 shots and seven of the 12 teams failed to record 25 shots. This makes for boring hockey (trust me, I watched two games last night) – to see my thoughts on this, check out my little forum rant .
