The Sharks have sent Devin Setoguchi to Worcester. After eight points in nine games, the rookie only had two in his last 15.

Here is my take on the Ray Emery situation in Ottawa…

The Islanders have signed Kyle Okposo to a three-year entry level deal. I see 15-20 points in about 35 games from him this season. He will join the team after the WJC.

Tampa Bay, happy enough with the play of Karri Ramo, have placed Marc Denis on waivers.

Drew Stafford is out indefinitely with a concussion.

Interested in Dustin Byfuglien? The topic of my article in The Hockey News today.

Ruslan Fedotenko sat out the third period of Thursday's game with a hand injury he suffered from a slash

Looking Ahead has been updated. Sorry for missing yesterday – Xmas season sometimes means missing things…

Taylor Pyatt has 10 points, 18 PIM's in 13 games. He also has three PPG and 28 shots in that span, decent depth numbers in roto-leagues.

Valtteri Filppula has 11 points in his last 11 games, including seven in his last five. Eight games ago was the second time he has cracked 18 minutes of ice time. He has done it three more times since then, so his responsibility is obviously going up.

Ryan Suter missed last night's contest with a leg injury that he suffered Wednesday. He will miss another one to four games, the Preds figure.

With Suter and Shea Weber both on the shelf (Weber is doubtful Saturday), Marek Zidlicky stepped up big time last night with three assists. He has 14 points in his last 18 games and the offensive stud that I saw a couple of years ago…just might be back.

Ryan Malone (leg infection) was back practicing and hopes to return to the lineup Saturday.

MA Fleury skated for the first time since suffering his high ankle sprain. He is still a good four weeks away though.

Joe Sakic will have hernia surgery today and will be gone for 8-12 weeks. TJ Hensick will likely remain up for the remainder of the year (not sure if that's good for his development) as a result. Next year I question if Sakic still has enough magic to reach the point-per-game plateau one more time.

Alexander Ovechkin left the game last night with a cut on his leg. He was seen limping after the game, but the wound is apparently superficial and he will be good to go next game against Ottawa.

Washington backup Brent Johnson sprained ligaments in his knee and will be on the shelf for 3-4 weeks.

Mike Cammalleri (ribs) is doubtful for Saturday's game, but should be back sometime next week.

The Blackhawks sent down Martin St.Pierre and Michael Blunden yesterday.

Ryan Smyth was back in the Colorado lineup last night.

Jordan Leopold will likely return to the Avs lineup Sunday.

Gilbert Brule missed last night's contest with tonsillitis. The Blue Jackets recalled Joaquim Lindstrom from Syracuse.

Rick Nash should be back in the lineup for Saturday after missing a pair of games with a throat infection.

Ryan O'Marra had tumbled all the way to the ECHL, but he has been called up to Springfield of the AHL.

Carlo Colaiacovo was back in the Toronto lineup last night. He played over 19 minutes but did not see any PP time.

Chicago's Jason Williams has missed 16 games with a groin injury and is still at least two more weeks away.
