Straight from the rumor mill. Is Teemu back? It's sketchy, but it gets your attention regardless. Let the speculation begin.
Top Blues prospect T.J. Oshie has been suspended by his team at the University of North Dakota following his arrest for disorderly conduct this past weekend. Oshie, a junior and the team's leading scorer, will be suspended one game, the school announced. This move could upset Oshie enough to jump ship and join the Blues before the end of the season. Stay tuned.
Tomas Holmstrom (knee) won't play Saturday, but could play Sunday – he hopes.
Michael Ryder scored twice and assisted on another, breaking out of a horrible slump and making a huge statement to his coach. He also improved his trade value for Bob Gainey…
Anton Volchenkov will play his 1st game after missing the past 15 with a broken finger. Isn't about 15 games ago when the Sens goaltending started to stumble? Paddock won't announce who will start tonight, but whoever does – Volchenkov will help them look good. Whichever one looks good will be the starter for the next little while. So it's important that you pay attention to which one out of Emery and Gerber gets the start, as well as Volchenkov's impact on the goals against.
Mikko Koivu will be back in practice for the first time today since breaking his leg November 16. Remember when I questioned reports that he would be out for a week with a broken leg? I laughed at that one, and here we are – seven weeks later.
With Sergei Zubov on the shelf with his hand injury, Matt Niskanen led the Stars in PP time last night and scored a goal.
Sam Gagner missed yesterday's contest with the flu
Raffi Torres is still looking at the possibility of season ending knee surgery. We will find out within a couple of weeks if rehab isn't working.
Ales Hemsky should be back in the lineup Saturday. This will help Horcoff owners as well.
Sheldon Souray received treatment on his shoulder and missed the game against Nashville. He should be in the lineup Saturday, but it looks like he will require surgery in the offseason. He is overrated, regardless – the product of the top NHL power play last season.
Martin Erat sat out of the third period last night because of back spasms.
Ryan Suter was back in the lineup for the Preds last night and played over 19 minutes (none on the PP).
David Legwand also returned to the lineup.
Alexander Radulov is on a five game point streak and has seven in that span. In those five games, he has played more than 15:07 just once. Last night he received zero power-play time. I guess he's in the lineup for his checking skills. Yes, Radulov owners can't wait until Trotz is fired.
With the aquisition of Bochenski, the Ducks have sent Drew Miller down to the minors.
Kris Beech was a healthy scratch for Columbus last night.
David Vyborny was placed on the IR and as such he will miss Saturday's game against San Jose.
Kris Versteeg storms onto my top 200 fantasy prospects list with his two-point effort last night. He was ranked 252 based on his size and the general idea that smaller players take a few years to get rolling in the NHL. He may be closer than I thought. He has 70-point upside.
Jason Williams could be back in the lineup Sunday.
Shane Doan missed last night's contest with a hand injury. It is considered minor and he is day to day.
Radim Vrbata has eight points in four games and he also has 23 points in his last 18 games. I have been pushing this guy on you for three years now and he's finally putting it all together. Vrbata is very streaky, but he'll finally clear 60 points this season and will round into a 70-point player.
Brendan Shanahan missed last night's contest with a sore neck. It has been bothering him for a week – getting worse and worse.
Petr Prucha was back in the lineup for the Rangers.
As I mentioned yesterday in the forum, if you are struggling between the pipes in a roto league, you need to grab any lifeline you can and hope for the best. That means pick up Michael Leighton and see what happens. The long shot may work out for you.
The Panthers recalled Anthony Stewart again.
The Flyers recalled Stefan Ruzicka again.
I updated some Carolina injury news late yesterday if you missed it (click "next" below)
Kyle Wellwood and Anton Stralman were healthy scratches for Toronto last night. Wellwood has been playing timid since returning from his abdominal injuries. I would stay away from him even in keeper leagues until he shows otherwise.
Brian Pothier left last night's contest in the third with an upper body injury.
