Ryan Shannon is centering the second line tonight for the Canucks.  Expect him to get his fair share of powerplay time as well.  His creativity is something the Canucks lack, so expect some points in the short-term.

Nikolai Khabibulin sprained his knee last night and called up Corey Crawford this morning. Jack Skille was sent to Rockford. Now would be the time to activate Lalime.

Brett Clark's shoulder injury is apparently serious enough to take him out for the rest of the regular season, according to the Denver Post.

Ryan Smyth should be back in the lineup tonight. Stastny's groin injury, which I mentioned to you yesterday, will keep him out for at least this weekend.

Ales Hemsky, who has been playing with an injured wrist, actually wears a cast when he is not playing. He makes an excellent acquisition in keeper leagues, as I think his value is very low yet he could get as many as 90 points next season on a weak Edmonton team.

Cory Stillman saw more ice time last night and played with Fisher and Alfredsson. The Sens are starting to spread out their offense now.

Patrick Marleau's groin injury makes him doubtful for tonight. He is still day to day.

Jared Boll missed yesterday's contest with bronchitis.

Freddie Modin was back in the lineup last night.

Dick Tarnstrom scored on the PP for the Blue Jackets. That gives him two points in two games for them and his great production will continue through the rest of the season as long as he stays healthy. He is the QB that this team needed. I picked him up in the Experts League last week. Incidentally, despite the losses of Crosby and Justin Williams, I have inched my team out of 11th and have moved up to eighth. I still think sixth is possible…a terrible goal, but considering what my team has gone through it would be a solid comeback.

Chuck Kobasew missed last night's contest with a sore back.

The Arizona Republic is saying that Martin Hanzal is about four games away from returning from his shoulder injury.

Shane Doan will likely be back in the lineup tonight. He missed last game with a groin injury.

Washington re-signed Tomas Fleischmann to a two-year extension. Fleischmann has 75-point upside, but will likely be a 65-point second liner in a couple of years.

Alexei Ponikarovsky returned to the Toronto lineup last night.

Dany Sabourin will likely get the start tonight against Carolina.

Tom Poti suffered an apparent leg injury late in the first period last night. Without Poti, Mike Green logged over 33 minutes.

Just a reminder, every Wednesday I do a fantasy mailbag for The Hockey News. Feel free to ask me questions via this outlet – although you won't see the answer until Wednesday and I obviously can't print every question…

Don't forget to buy your significant other something today. I often forget…so if my favorite hockey website stuck a reminder at the bottom of the daily content I would greatly appreciate it. So here is your reminder!
