Mike Sillinger will have surgery on his hip and he will be out for the rest of the regular season.

Patrice Bergeron is hoping to return to the ice this week. That would be huge and certainly opens the door for a return for the final two weeks or so of the season.

The Bruins were actually successful in convincing Stanislav Chistov to play in the AHL. I was reading that they were looking into this earlier in the week but was so convinced that it would be impossible that I did not mention it here. Well, it's done. He cleared waivers and was assigned to Providence.

Sidney Crosby did get back on the ice as expected yesterday. He worked out off the ice and will not play today or tomorrow. With that news, don't expect him back for another week at the very least.

Marc-Andre Fleury could get the start for Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Markus Naslund left Friday's practice with a groin injury. He is questionable for today's contest.

Chris Chelios left last night's contest after taking a hard slapshot off of his right foot. He will be re-evaluated today. The Red Wings already have Lidstrom, Rafalski and Kronwall on the shelf. It looks like their focus at the deadline will lean more towards a rearguard than a second-liner now. Rafalski will miss at least the next two games with a groin injury, while Kronwall is hoping to return Tuesday (bruised clavicle). Nick Lidstrom is feeling better and hoping to beat the original three-week prognosis.

Nikolai Khabibulin is suffering from back spasms now. The red-hot Lalime is getting every opportunity to steal the starting role.

Rob Blake was back in practice and should be back in the LA lineup by the end of next week.

Paul Stastny was back in the Avs lineup and scored a goal, playing over 21 minutes.

Wojtek Wolski was out of the lineup last night with an undisclosed injury.

Martin Gelinas has an injury to his ACL in his right knee and may be out for the season. That takes some trade bait off the table for the Preds.

The Isles signed Trent Hunter to a five-year contract extension worth $10 million.

Washington has recalled Eric Fehr from Hershey.

Thomas Vanek, Derek Roy, Jochen Hecht and Paul Gaustad were all missing from yesterday's mandatory practice. All are reportedly either ill or injured, but the Sabres aren't saying. Hecht and Gaustad did not even appear in the building, so they may be the worst off. Hecht only missed the last four minutes of the last contest. The other three all played in the final minute.

Maxim Afinogenov was skating lightly on his own.

Tim Connolly will be in the lineup today.

Defenseman Nathan Paetsch, who dressed Thursday for the first time in 14 games, could remain at forward tonight. He played left wing against Toronto
