Blair Betts underwent foot surgery and will be out 2-3 weeks. That is of no significance in itself, but it will get a hungry Petr Prucha back in the lineup.
Coming soon: news on Dobber's Ultimate Playoff Pool. 1000-2000 entrants, 18 players, FREE to enter. Great prizes to be announced. This is Dobber's way of weeding out the weak. Trash talk encouraged. Check in for more details in the coming days.
Mike Komisarek was on the receiving end of a couple of big hits from Milan Lucic and Shawn Thornton and left midway through last night's game with an "lower body" injury. He will be evaluated today.
Detroit rearguard Brad Stuart will miss the rest of the regular season and the start of the playoffs with a non-displaced fracture of his finger. The injury typically keeps a player out for 3-6 weeks according to the Detroit News.
Daniel Cleary will likely be back in the lineup tomorrow.
Paul Stastny missed last night's game with the flu.
George Laraque's three game suspension is over now. Ditto for Steve Ott.
Sidney Crosby skated yesterday, but will still not play tomorrow.
Jared Boll injured his hip on Wednesday and could be out for the season. The team recalled Alexandre Picard, who is starting to look more like a shift disturber than an offensive talent, as he has 114 PIMs and 18 points in 47 AHL contest this year. He is ranked 131 – and slipping – in my fantasy prospects list.
Dan Fritsche broke his hand on Wednesday and will be out for the season.
Cam Barker is questionable for Saturday's contest. He took a shot in the head Wednesday and is feeling dizzy.
Phoenix prospect Kevin Porter is nominated for the Hobey Baker. He could play the last couple of games for the Coyotes this year.
Ed Jovanovski missed yesterday's game with a kidney injury.
Martin Hanzal missed the game with a hip injury.
Albany signed undrafted prospect Ben Cottreau to a contract. Cottreau has notched more than a point per game in NCAA action for this last three seasons, so the 23-year-old is one to watch.
