NHL hockey Stanley Cup picks

A year ago, the DobberHockey Crew went 12-3 with our playoff picks as a group. Individually, Jim Gunther, who wrote Sticks and Stones at the time, was tops at 11-4. Matt Bugg was the only one to say Anaheim would win in four, Gunther said in six – it wound up being five. Everyone on the panel had a winning record, but the worst prognosticator was (gulp) myself going just 8-7.

But the important thing is, the DobberHockey Crew went 12-3 as a consensus so go with what we say this year as a whole.

Other Picks:

Conn Smythe Finalists Stanley Cup Top Scorer who had <50pts in the season Top Scorer overall
Dobber Carey Price SJ vs. MTL MTL Joe Pavelski Joe Thornton
Angus Brian Campbell SJ vs. MTL SJ Patrick Marleau Joe Thornton
Bugg Carey Price DET vs. MTL MTL Michael Ryder Pavel Datsyuk
Miller Sidney Crosby PIT vs DET PIT Dan Cleary Sidney Crosby
Status Marc-Andre Fleury PIT vs. ANA PIT Teemu Selanne Evgeni Malkin
Maltais Teemu Selanne PIT vs. ANA ANA Teemu Selanne Sidney Crosby
Ma Joe Thornton SJ vs. PIT SJ Jonathan Cheechoo Joe Thornton
Goldman  Evgeni Nabokov
SJ vs. NJ  SJ
Peter Forsberg
Peter Forsberg
Lanky Sidney Crosby PIT vs. SJ PIT Patrick Marleau Sidney Crosby
Notch Evgeni Nabokov OTT vs. SJ  OTT  Patrick Marleau  Joe Thornton

Panel Consensus: PIT or SJ wins the Stanley Cup. Carey Price, Evgeni Nabokov or Sid the Kid wins the Conn Smythe if the Pens/Habs get there and Thornton/Crosby will win the scoring title. The category for <50 points is a strong indicator of some under-the-radar players who are far down the season scoring list.
