Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza were split up in the second half of the game. Heatley played with Stillman and Vermette (fine), while Spezza played with Lapointe and Foligno (ouch).
Kevin Porter, ranked 55th on my fantasy prospects list, has won the Hobey Baker Trophy for top US college player. Look for the Coyotes to sign him and expect him to have a real shot at a roster spot this fall.
David Jones left last night's game after injuring his foot. He was in a walking cast afterwards. The team could dress Jordan Leopold as a seventh defenseman as a result.
Patrick Thoresen left last night's game with a lower body injury, blocking an Ovechkin shot.
As expected, Briere (knee) was back in the lineup last night. He tallied three helpers, so he must be feeling okay…
Nicklas Backstrom, who finishes the season second to Patrick Kane in rookie scoring, has signed a No.19 Washington jersey and whoever wins my FREE pool will get it. The good fellas at hockeyknight.com made this happen, so do me a favor and check out their site and sign up for the big announcement of their launch.
Aaron Voros got into the lineup last night at the expense of Chris Simon.
Nick Schultz (appendectomy) hopes to be back in the lineup early in the second round for the Wild.
David Legwand (bruised foot) will be a game time decision today.
Scott Nichol is out for the next two weeks at least with a broken thumb. I doubt anyone owns him in any fantasy league – playoff or otherwise.
The Oilers have signed Robert Nilsson to a three-year contract extension worth $5.5 million.
Joni Pitkanen, Curtis Glencross, Jarret Stoll, Marc Pouliot, and Zack Stortini still need to sign.
Nathan Davis, ranked 185 on my fantasy prospects list, signed a three-year entry level deal with Chicago yesterday. He has battled injuries this season in the NCAA. He moves up a bit with this news. His former college teammate, goalie Jeff Zatkoff, signed an entry deal with the Kings on Thursday.
Ron Wilson did not dress Devin Setoguchi Thursday because he "had a change of heart" and the Mercury News speculates that he may have also wanted to throw the Flames with false information.
