Angus here with some West Coast updates.

Bob McKenzie is reporting that Sean Avery would love to be a Maple Leaf, and the feeling is mutual. Now that would be interesting.

Interesting thought… Columbus is after Brendan Morrison, and both Bertuzzi and Naslund are unrestricted. Does a team dare to re-unite the West Coast Express?

Pierre Lebrun says the Canucks are pushing hard for Hossa. I still stand by my comment that he ends up in Vancouver along with Demitra. There will be at least ten teams after Hossa big time tomorrow.

Corey Perry has re-signed with Anaheim, signing a contract similar to that of linemate Ryan Getzlaf. Perry will get slightly over $5 million for the next five years.

Brian Rolston has been offered a deal, no word on whether he has accepted it yet.

Paul Gaustad has re-signed in Buffalo. His cap hit is $2.3 million per season for four years.

Evgeni Malkin and the Penguins are close to a five year extension worth an average of $8.5 million.

Igor Makarov, ranked 45th (and rising) on my fantasy prospects list, will attend Chicago's development camp on July 7. Off-the-charts upside with this guy, although by no means a certainty.

The Flyers waived Denis Gauthier and will buy him out.

The Flyers sent Kyle Greentree to the Flames for Tim Ramhold. The Flames need offense from the left wing, so the undrafted Greentree may actually get a decent opportunity here.

After searching around for some Alexei Cherepanov information. Next season is his final one for Omsk of the KHL and they apparently won't let him out of it so he can play in the NHL next year. That being said, Cherepanov was quoted a year ago as saying that the contract will not keep him out of the NHL. So call it 80-20 that he will not play in the season ahead.

The Panthers have signed Rusty Olesz to a monster contract. His six-year, $18.75 million contract is crazy – but damn if it doesn't tell you how important he is on that team. A wallet that full gets a guy on the first line automatically.

The Wild acquired a conditional draft pick from TB in exchange for the rights to Brian Rolston. If Tampa can land this guy, then they can go easier on Stamkos, giving them another 2A and 2B center situation much like Philly has. There will be lots of ice time to go around. Rolston with Malone and Jokinen would make up the perfect second line. So they would just have to get Stammer some linemates – which I'm sure ownership would do, given how aggressive they are being.

The Avs have signed Adam Foote and JM Liles. Liles comes as a huge surprise, as he was in and out of the doghouse and has seen declining numbers. However, given the size of his contract (four years, $16 million) will mean that the new coach will play him every chance he gets. Bounce back season.

There is a very real possibility that Joe Sakic will retire. I had not given his return a second thought until seeing a couple of Denver Post headlines, but the guy turns 39 next week and the Avs are a team still a ways from Cup contention.

At midnight tonight, Patrick Marleau's no-trade clause kicks in…and Marek Zidlicky's no-trade clause ends.

I'll be covering the free agent frenzy tomorrow live – with the full fantasy lowdown and immediate fantasy impact. Last year I was unable to do this because I was away, so I'm looking forward to it.
