It is Sidney Crosby's birthday today. He turns 21. Sometimes we forget that.
Adam Perry, Corey's brother, has signed with Phoenix as a UFA. He was never drafted. He has good instincts, great hockey sense and decent hands, but his skating is somewhat poor and so is his strength.
The Caps signed David Steckel to a one-year contract extension.
Trevor Letowski has signed to play with Barys of the KHL next season.
Josh Langfeld has signed to play in the German League next year.
New Jersey's farm affiliate has signed Pascal Rheaume, who had played over in Vienna last season.
Jan Hlavac has turned down the Preds in favor of the Swedish Elite League. Hlavac probably would have been a 45-point player on a Preds team without Radulov.
The Tennessean is also reporting that it is doubtful the team will re-sign Martin Gelinas.
One of the two German hockey players suspended for not submitting to drug testing was Nashville prospect Robert Dietrich. He is not on my fantasy radar at this time.
Sean Hill is reportedly close to signing with a team in Switzerland.
Later this morning – a MUST HEAR – the debut of Dobber Nation Radio Show Powered by the Hockey Guild. The trial run is over – all the kinks have been worked out, and we have brought in some great guests. TSN.ca's Scott Cullen, Spector's Hockey's (and my colleague at The Hockey News, as well as Fox Sports) Lyle Richardson, and DobberHockey's Jeff Angus. Check in LATER THIS MORNING for the big show.
If you haven't already – check out DobberBaseball and tell your baseball friends about it!
There is a promotion going on for the next week for DobberHockey swag – 25% off your order of two or more items. Just use the code CADSCHOOL308 and get 25% off shirts, hats and bags. My personal favorites are the sleeveless black DobberHockey shirt – great quality, lightweight, feels great to wear – and the white DobberHockey hat with pinstripes.
