The Sabres have signed Teppo Numminen and Tyler Bouck to contracts.
Janis Sprukts, who had fallen to 394 on my Fantasy Prospects List because I didn't figure he would give the NHL another shot, has signed a one-year, two-way deal – with the Panthers. With the news, he shoots up into the Top 150 on that list. If the Panthers make room for him, he could be a decent second-line forward with upside into the 60s. Considering that Ville Peltonen is on the team pretty much because of his pal Olli Jokinen (who is now gone), I could see one Finn getting squeezed out (Peltonen) in favor of another (Sprukts). Let's see what shakes out in camp. Sprukts was the team MVP two seasons ago when he played in North America (AHL). That being said, the team has 12 forwards on one-way deals… leaving one spot open. He would not turn down Euro money to shuttle back and forth to the AHL, so expect him to get a real chance.
Byron Ritchie has signed to play in the Swiss League.
The Isles will reportedly have a new coach in place within a week. John Tortorella is reportedly out of the mix.
