That Brian McCabe thing dragged on for so long that when the trade actually became official, I missed doing a trade analysis. Florida will actually score more goals than Toronto, but with McCabe playing the same role on either team and getting most of his points on the power play, I don't see a large increase for him. As for Van Ryn – until I see him make it to January without any wrist problems, I can't recommend him as anything but a dark horse. There was a time when I was a big fan – maybe he'll get back there, and maybe he won't.

Speaking of dragging on, Mats Sundin sounded as though he will not be making a decision in the month of September, if you listen to the TSN.ca feed of his interview with Darren Dreger.

Ottawa prospect Igor Mirnov broke his wrist and will be out of KHL action for two months. Mirnov is a big talent, but may never come over here.

NYI prospect Kiril Petrov was named MVP of the U20 Four Nations Tournament. The Isles have a good one there and I think they can get him over here in two years. Just my own guess though.

If you read Tarik El-Bashir's blog outlining his discussion with Brian Pothier, you will be led to believe that he won't be ready for camp (concussion) and that retirement is a possibility.
