The Fantasy Guide and Draft List are updated through to yesterday morning. You won't find that anywhere else.

Daniel Alfredsson will be out for at least two weeks. He will undergo arthoscropic surgery on his right knee. If you predicted he would play 80 games, then you were silly anyway. He's a 75-game player at best at this stage in his career, and your best bet is to assume 70 games going forward.

Jere Lehtinen is struggling with a groin injury and may not play tonight. If he cannot play, look for Fabian Brunnstrom to make his NHL debut.

Mike Fisher is also fighting groin problems. He is doubtful for tomorrow's contest against Detroit.

Interesting move by the Penguins. They sent Jeff Taffe to the AHL and acquired Mike Zigomanis from Phoenix in exchange for a draft pick. It's a sideways move in terms of player skillset, but they gave up a draft pick to do it. I don't understand that one.

Carey Price will get the start today and Jaroslav Halak will start tomorrow for Montreal.

Robyn Regehr missed last night's game because his wife went into labor. Prust and Nystrom were healthy scratches.

The Flames recalled Dustin Boyd yesterday, buthe was a minus-2 in their big loss to Vancouver.

The Bruins made Petteri Nokelainen and Andrew Alberts healthy scratches.

The Leafs scratched Anton Stralman and Ian White. Jeff Finger is out with a bruised foot, but should be back within a week. When he comes back, it makes you wonder what the team will do with Stralman and White. Why did they draft Schenn over Filatov again? And why did they get a d-man back in the McCabe trade again? It's about identifying strengths and the only strength (besides Toskala) that the Leafs had was NHL depth on the blueline. So in the summer they add Finger, Schenn and Van Ryn? They could have added Filatov, a free agent winger, and a Panther forward instead? I don't argue that their defense was upgraded… but would you not rather upgrade your forwards from a D to a B- instead of upgrading your defense from a B- to a B?

The Wings scratched Quincey and Meech.

The Avs scratched McCormick and Tjarnqvist.

The Canucks scratched Kyle Wellwood, which gives you a good indication of how he is looking in their eyes. He is a different player since all those abdominal problems. Also scratched were Davison and Brown.

The Ducks scratched Ryan Carter and Nathan McIver.

The Panthers activated Weiss, Booth and Dvorak from injured reserve and thus were forced to cut Shawn Matthias. The fact that Michal Frolik beat out Matthias is surprising. The fact that the Panthers would rather Dvorak play than Matthias is even more surprising. Look for Matthias to get recalled rather quickly. He is ranked 13th on my Fantasy Prospects List. Frolik is ranked 14th.

Zach Boychuk, out for a couple of weeks after wrist surgery, is back practicing with the Hurricanes. The fact that he is in the NHL practicing and not back in Junior speaks volumes about the team's intentions. Keep an eye on this kid, he is looking like a dark horse rookie.

Carolina's Matt Murley has signed to play in the KHL.

The Oilers have cut Rob Schremp.

Nashville is trying Rich Peverley on the top line with Arnott and Dumont. Peverley has seen offensive success at other levels, so this is is one big chance at this level. It bears watching, but I think in the end Hornqvist will get that spot.

RJ Umberger is back centering Nash and Huselius, as expected. Look for that combo tonight.
