The Isles sent Blake Comeau to the minors

The Isles also announced that they will be without three defensemen for a few weeks – Radek Martinek is the latest casualty (upper body injury). Chris Campoli (shoulder) and Andy Sutton (hand) remain sidelined. This is an opportunity for Hillen and Gervais to really step up.

Viktor Kozlov left last night's contest in the second with an injury to his left leg. The official stance is that he is day to day and that his injury is "undisclosed". In looking at the shift chart for who replaced Kozlov on Ovechkin's line in the second half of the game, it was pretty much a different player every shift: Gordon, Clark, Fleischmann and even Bradley.

Sergei Kostitsyn again played minimal ice time (11 minutes), but again produced (two points).

Kyle Wellwood got into the Vancouver lineup, but was pointless and a minus-1 in just 10:54 of ice time.

Jochen Hecht suffered a hand injury in the second period and left the game yesterday.

Tim Connolly continues to miss games with a back injury. There is no hint of when he will return.

Anssi Salmela is down to 10 minutes of ice time now. Yesterday he played 2:16 on the power play. The Devils are not scoring goals and if that leads to losing games, then their one-dimensional offensive players such as Salmela will see more ice time.

Give Daniel Girardi another two assists. He is off to a great start with five points.

Jason Arnott left yesterday's game with a hand injury. He jammed it, but it does not appear to have any broken bones. Consider him day-to-day.

The Tennessean printed excerpts from a letter that Alexander Radulov allegedly wrote to the KHL president Medvedev: "I officially state that I want to play in the Kontinental Hockey League in my homeland of Russia and I returned to Russia not so that I could return again to the NHL but rather to offer all of my efforts and professionalism to the betterment of Russian hockey taking it to a new level". Make of it what you will, but at this point I don't completely trust the KHL, nor Radulov, and I am waiting until the arbitration case starts rolling.

Mike Ribeiro apparently has a minor injury that caused him to miss practice yesterday. The injury is unkown.

Travis Moen has a stiff back that may cause him to miss some time. Moen has been playing with Getzlaf and Perry, so his absence opens the door for Ryan Carter, who has been practicing in that spot now.

Jiri Novotny update from yesterday: he expects to play tonight. Nobody will be recalled.

Aaron Voros has seven points this season, as does his linemate Dubinsky. My article in today's Hockey News (will be on thn.com this afternoon) is on David Booth in Florida, but I also address this white-hot Rangers line.

Brad Isbister has signed to play in the Swiss League.

Kris Beech has signed to play the rest of the year in Sweden.

Still watching Hornqvist and Jones in Nashville: Jones was a healthy scratch last night and Hornqivst was a minus-1 in just under 14 minutes of ice. He didn't see PP time, but again tied for the team lead in shots with three. If he continues to miss the mark with those shots, he may join Jones in the press box.

He needs to get on the board soon to justify Nashville's faith in him.

Oshie is still not seeing PP time, but he did tally his first career assist yesterday. Berglund, who is seeing time on the second unit, picked up his first goal and second assist.

The Leafs scratched White, Stajan and Frogren, while Stralman got into the lineup. For Stajan, it ended 178 straight games. Ryan Hollweg's Leaf debut pushed him out of the lineup. Ironically, it was a Hollweg hit from behind that cost the Leafs the game.
