Dobber Sports

2008-12-11

A huge trade just went down in the Dobber Expert's League. Check it out HERE.

After 870 career NHL games and over 40 career two-goal games, Petr Sykora FINALLY scores his first career hat-trick!

In El-Bashir's blog , he reports that Sergei Fedorov and Mike Green will probably be in the lineup tomorrow, barring any setbacks.

I'm looking for feedback – the Dobber Nation Radio Show. Please leave it HERE.

Dan Cleary has eight points in six games since returning from his eye injury.

The Preds have recalled Ryan Jones from the AHL. If you are desperate for points from the wing, I think he'll get some. I think he'll stay, too.

Legace left last night's contest with a possible concussion. No word on how long he will be out, if at all. But I would say Chris Mason is a must start right now. Ben Bishop has been recalled.

TJ Oshie is back on the shelf day-to-day with his ankle. He did not go to the west coast with the team, meaning he will miss at least two more contests.

Paul Kariya and Andy McDonald are both on the mend. According the "Morning Skate" at stltoday.com, the two are competing in the weight room and are impressing with their strength. Kariya is still probably a week away, whereas McDonald is closer to four.

Also from the Morning Skate blog: "Peoria goaltender Marek Schwarz has been sent to Alaska to play in the ECHL. This appears to be the beginning of the end for Schwarz."

In his last three games, Kris Letang is a minus-6.

Mike Ribeiro is pointless and minus-3 in his last four games. You have to consider benching him – he is lost without Morrow. I had him in two of my five leagues and managed to trade him just over a week ago in one of them. He is benched in the other league in favor of Brooks Laich.

Kris Versteeg (CHI), Kyle Quincey (LA), Ray Ferraro and Matt Bugg are the confirmed guests for DOBBER NATION. The show will air on December 20th. This will be a can't-miss show as Quincey and Versteeg are arguably the biggest fantasy surprises of the year, Ray Ferraro is a closet fantasy sports fanatic and Matthew Bugg will give you the lowdown on the World Juniors. If you haven't listened to Dobber Nation before – what the hell are you waiting for? Why surf the Internet in silence? Go to the Dobber Nation page and listen to some fantasy hockey talk, tips and advice. Have a question you want discussed in our email segment? Ask it HERE .

Wade Redden only took one game off for his groin, but he came back and tallied three assists and was a plus-3. I was about to give up on him – VERY close to dropping him for some desperately needed D-help. Instead, he pulled me in even tighter in the DobberHockey Experts League – still fifth place, but five points back of first.

Oskar Osala was pointless in his NHL debut and played just over 11 minutes.

After 12 games, Alexander Semin was back and picked up an assist. He played 17:45.

Another player returned last night – Olli Jokinen. He, too, made an impact, scoring twice. Despite his return, Martin Hanzal still scored two goals and was a plus-3. A great sign.

In his Phoenix debut, Joakim Lindstrom was given 14 minutes of ice time and over four minutes on the PP. He was held pointless though.

Ed Jovanovski has nine points in his last eight games.

Scott Nichol is out for the Preds tonight and Jordin Tootoo is doubtful, meaning two of the following three players will be recalled: Ryan Jones, Mike Santorelli and Patric Hornqvist.

Ryan Whitney has confirmed that he will probably be back before Christmas. I can see he and Goligoski manning the PP with Malkin, Crosby and Sykora. The second unit will consist of Letang and Boucher on the point, with Staal, Satan and Kennedy.

Roberto Luongo may have tweaked his groin again. He left practice early, according to the Sun. While Sanford is a great backup, as he plays more games I think he starts to stumble. This would open the door for Schneider. If Luongo ends up struggling like this into February, Schneider will quietly be piling up the wins.
