According to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch, Brassard is done for the season with shoulder surgery.

Justin Pogge has been recalled by the Maple Leafs and he will likely get the start Monday against Atlanta. He sports an .890 SP in the AHL and a 10-9-3 record, but last season he had a strong second half so I wouldn't count him out. With Vesa Toskala playing through a groin injury, I think Pogge will see an extended run, provided he doesn't collapse.

I stuck in a clip of both fights between Brashear and Cote (yesterday) at the bottom here. Brashear… well, he hammered him.

If you thought David Krejci was hot WITH Bergeron in the lineup, how good can he be with the added ice time now that Bergeron is out?

The early word on Daniel Alfredsson's upper body injury is that it is not too serious. Consider him day-to-day.

The Ducks have recalled Andrew Ebbett to take Selanne's roster spot, but as Angus said below – Bobby Ryan or Ryan Carter will play on the second line now.

The Flames assigned Jamie Lundmark to the AHL. Too bad – I'm pulling for him to turn things around.

The line of Carter, Hartnell and Lupul continues to be red-hot. They combined for five points today. Hartnell has 11 points in his last seven contests. Carter has 13 in his last six. Lupul has 10 in his last six. Jeff Carter is now where he should be – ahead of Mike Richards in scoring. I've been saying this since they were drafted. Richards is the all-around guy. The leader. Carter is the high-end sniper.

Ilya Bryzgalov has allowed just 11 goals in his last six contests. He is 4-1-1 with a SO in that span. He's back!

ANGUS UNLEASHED!

Angus here, hope you are all enjoying your holidays so far!

David Krejci has been on fire this season, and with Patrice Bergeron out for who knows how long, Krejci becomes even more important to the Bruins attack.

Evander Kane of the Vancouver Giants has been called up to replace Dana Tyrell at the World Juniors. Kane is a dazzling offensive player, but I don't see him skating in Tyrell's spot on the top line. Look for Espositio to get a chance to prove himself alongside Tavares and Tyler Ennis.

Congratulations to Dany Heatley, who got his 500th point last season, assisting on Jason Smith's overtime winner.

Rumor has it that Dallas is after a number one defenseman, but they are finding it tough to get one. Gee, you don't say?

The Predators continue to get strong goaltening from both Dan Ellis and Pekka Rinne. Rinne posted his third shutout of the season on Saturday night.

Teemu Selanne's quad injury will keep him sidelined for the next month or so. Look for Bobby Ryan and Ryan Carter to benefit.
