In doing my article for tomorrow in The Hockey News, I came across some interesting facts: Radek Dvorak has 17 points in his last 23 games. Ville Peltonen has 17 in his last 24.

Rick Nash is on IR now and is ineligible to play until Wednesday. So he will miss tomorrow's contest.

Despite going pointless in three Marlie's games, Nikolai Kulemin has been recalled by the Maple Leafs. I'm not sure if he regained the confidence that he needed.

The Flames have sent Mikael Backlund to Kelowna of the WHL now that Bertuzzi is back in the lineup.

The Oilers recalled Ryan Potunlny, their top scorer in Springfield, and he assisted on both Oiler goals last night. He played 11:36. Put him on your watch list – the pressure is on for him to earn a spot now, because he's running out of chances. He has a lot of skill and could prevail.

Trading Lecavalier for any package would be the dumbest thing the Lightning could ever do. Even dumber than trading away Dan Boyle. Even dumber than trading away the player they got for Boyle. Even dumber than hiring a TV analyst as a coach. Even dumber than firing their analyst/coach after just 14 games. Even dumber than letting Len Barrie make any decisions at all whatsoever with regards to this hockey team. Even dumber…

Roberto Luongo will probably be back in the VAN lineup by the weekend. LaBarbera owners – he may be worth keeping in the event Luongo goes down again.

Alex Steen did not play last night because of a foot injury. X-rays revealed no break.

Andy McDonald update (finally): he is still feeling pain in his ankle and he may sit out for another two weeks.

Unbelievable – Ilya Kovalchuk was named captain of the Thrashers. Looks like he is going nowhere this season and his odds of re-signing the team just jumped from zero percent to 25. Kovalchuk owners despair – he'll be an 85-point guy for a little whie yet. On another team you can make that 100.
