Nikita Filatov is now out of the CBJ lineup with the flu. Apparently his leg is better.

Steven Reinprecht will actually return this weekend, and not in eight weeks as originally diagnosed. His collarbone was sprained, not fractured.

Joel Perrault played so well with Doan and Lindstrom that Gretzky will keep that line intact for now.

Because Tyler Kennedy has been suspended for one game (for apparently leaving the bench to fight Luke Schenn), the Pens have decided to give Luca Caputi a look. Caputi, ranked 51st on my prospects list and rising quickly, has 30 points in his last 28 AHL contests. As a young, skilled offensive winger on team flush with superstar centermen, it only makes sense to regard this kid very highly. However, after seeing Michel Therrien's treatment of Janne Pesonen (sticking him on a checking line and giving him little to no ice time with Malkin or Crosby), I do not see an early impact from Caputi.

Carlo Colaiacovo played over 22 minutes last night and picked up two points. That gives him seven in his last seven. The Blues really love the return they got from the Leafs – Colaiacovo is the PP QB now and Steen saw over 19 minutes of ice time.

Ville Leino saw just 10 minutes in his second NHL game but managed another assist. Between his success in the AHL and these two NHL games, I've seen enough to believe that he will make a huge splash next year – to the tune of 55 points or more as a regular in the DET lineup.

Anaheim's Andrew Ebbett has eight points in his last 10 games. There is a healthy scratch thrown in there, so be cautious – but he is reminding me more and more of an Andy McDonald. He was never drafted, like McDonald, and they are of similar size and play a similar style.

The wait is over for PM Bouchard owners – he has 15 points in his last 14 games. He'll finish with 55 points this season and that makes him a steal for next year – I think he'll get 75 in 2009-10, whereas in one-year leagues he will be drafted like a 60-point player.

Kyle Calder is on a five game points streak (seven points). Playing with Brown and a red-hot Stoll (see my Sunday article) will do that.

Milan Michalek has nine points in his last seven contests.

Mark Recchi has nine points in his last nine games and is a plus-3 in that span although he was shutout in his last contest.

Teammate Steve Downie was also shutout in his last contest, but prior to that he had a four-game points streak going.

I suspect that Michael Nylander is playing this season hurt. His lackluster numbers are one indication, but another one is the fact that two of the last four times that Washington played back-to-back, he was a healthy scratch. As a result, he has posted a decent six points in nine games (around the scratches). In fact, all three of his games missed were scratches at the start or end of a back-to-back set. Nylander owners can now look at the schedule ahead and know what the risk is. Any future back-to-back games hold a 50/50 chance that he will be scratched for one of them.

Chris Drury is pointless in his last five games and is a minus-3 in that span.

David Krejci has gone three games without a point for the first time since mid-November.

Calgary rearguard Adrian Aucoin has 10 points in his last nine contests. He is back logging monster minutes and has finally seemed to have gotten his career back on track. The big worry with his was his chronic groin problem, but for the last season and half he has only missed six games.
