Sergei Gonchar could finally be back in the lineup on Saturday against the Leafs.

Awesome discussin in the forum about my bold "goalie system" statement below. Have a look

Alex Tanguay will be back in the Montreal lineup early next week.

Cory Murphy has just one point in his last six games after storming out of the gates with his new team in Tampa.

That's it for Paul Kariya this year. He underwent surgery on his other hip after they discovered a tear in the labrum there. Don't expect him back until the fall.

Jakub Voracek was in the lineup last night, playing 11:45 and notching an assist. Amazingly – no power-play time.

The line on goalie Dan Lacosta: two NHL starts, two wins, one shutout and .950, 1.54. Tell me again how great Columbus' goalies are, and how they have nothing to do with the system they play. Last year Leclaire had seven shutouts by November. This year, Steve Mason is the second coming of Martin Brodeur. And now LaCosta is Patrick Roy. C'mon, goalies who are good become great thanks to the coaching system and goalies who are great become legends. Brodeur would be a top-10 goalie in another team's system, but in New Jersey he has become the best probably in history. No way that happens as a Leaf. Mason will be the same way. Don't believe me? Just ask superstar Scott Clemmensen whether it's the team system or his own talent.

Andy McDonald's long-awaited return: 16 minutes of ice, two points, two PIMs and minus-1. He played with Berglund and Oshie

Mats Sundin has five points in his last two games as he continues clicking with Kesler and Demitra.

Ryan Smyth has 23 points in his last 21 games. The guy clearly thrives when the team needs him most, because he wasn't doing anything when the Avs were a healthy team.

Drew Stafford has 30 points in his last 33 games. Talk about sneaking under the radar, this caught me off guard I must admit. He had just four points in his first 18 contests.

After 18 points in his first 32 games, Jonathan Cheechoo somehow got even worse. Pointless in his last seven. His ice time is hovering around 13 minutes. The Sharks have moved on, finding offense elsewhere.
