The Thrashers have traded Havelid to the Devils for Salmela. Analysis on the home page.

The NHL suspended Steve Ott for one game, which has already been served so he will be back next contest.

Angus here with some Monday morning/afternoon tidbits.

Throughout Monday I will be updating my "10 Deadline Day Predictions" topic in my section on the DobberHockey forum. Check it out here.

Let the trading begin! Niclas Havelid has been dealt to New Jersey for Anssi Salmela.

Both Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows have been on fire since the Canucks began their recent streak of good play. Kesler has 13 points (and eight goals) in the last 12 games, and Burrows has 10 points (and five goals). Burrows in particular has risen to meet the opportunity given to him with top line minutes.

Personal prediction for deadline day: Pronger is traded back to St. Louis. It makes lots of sense. The Blues want to win, they want to show their fans they are done rebuilding, and they have a lot of young, tradable assets.

According to  Pierre Lebrun, the Penguins are interested in re-acquiring super pest Jarkko Ruutu.

Sean Avery has officially been placed on recall waivers by Dallas. Expect the Rangers to claim him. The Tortorella/Avery dynamic will be very interesting.

Brian Burke was on Toronto radio, and was blowing his usual hot air, claiming that most of the offers given to him have been (paraphrasing) crap. Expect Dominic Moore to get dealt if he isn't signed to a new deal, though.

Michael Nylander has been a healthy scratch for the past three games – expect the Caps to try and move him in a deal to soften their cap problems. His trade value is definitely negative, so they would have to add something of value to the package.

Jussi Jokinen's father has passed away and the Carolina forward has returned to Finland for a few days, understandably.

The 'Yotes have recalled Kyle Turris. I would bet that this time is for good. He could be quite valuable down the stretch if the team moves Olli Jokinen.

Ilya Kovalchuk has 21 points in his last 10 games.

Rich Peverley has 21 points in 20 games as a Thrasher.

Joel Ward has five points and is a plus-6 in his last three games. He is not naturally a point producer, but he may have eligibility on both wings in your league, which makes him valuable in the short term.

First off, as you read these ramblings, give our radio show a listen. Yep, I'm asking you to multi task. John Buccigross, Sam Cosentino, Brett Sonne, Randy Moller and myself are the guests and give a fantasy slant on the trade deadline…LISTEN HERE.

Steve Ott has been suspended indefinitely for his role in the clip below. He fought with a taped up hand, that is probably the reason for the review.

Two players with five point nights yesterday – Jarome Iginla and Mark Recchi. The latter has eight points in four games since his first and only scratch of the season.

Philly line combos with Briere back in the lineup yesterday: Richards, with Knuble and Gagne; Carter with Lupul and Upshall; Briere with Powe and Hartnell – although Carter or Lupul sometimes subbed in for Powe.

Marian Gaborik passed a physical and will now work on his strength and conditioning. He'll beging skating later in the week (after the trade deadline).

Owen Nolan (broken toe) has rejoined the team and is probable for next game.

St. Louis had a great couple of shifts from a newly formed line last game and indications are that they will remain together. The Kid Line – TJ Oshie with Patrik Berglund and David Perron.

The AHL has suspended Steve Downie for abuse of official. He slashed at a lineman, although obviously the defending parties say it was unintentional.

Steve Ott vs Travis Moen – watch Ott immediately in the bottom left of this clip:
