It took him eight starts, but Carey Price finally got the win. It was his third straight start for the Habs, but his second straight strong outing. Price has allowed two goals on 58 shots. Carbonneau was hoping for a sign like this. With 18 games left, barring a major setback, you should see Price start 16 and roll into the postseason in his "zone".

Olli Jokinen was pointless and a minus-3 last night. He has two points in three games for Calgary. After a promising first game, he has failed to click with Cammy and Iggy.

Crosby has some steady linemates and the Pens are hot – that could mean a deadly surge to second in the scoring race, giving he and Malkin a 1-2 finish. Guerin has four points in two games. Kunitz has six points in five games as a Penguin.

Kris Letang has four points in his last four games.

Yann Danis is 4-2-0 in his last six starts and he has allowed nine goals in that span.

Trent Hunter has a broken ankle and is done for the season. Yet another reason why you should be looking at the likes of Bergenheim, Okposo, Tambellini and Comeau.

As I figured – the 'Yotes scratched Lindstrom in favor of Lisin, who was pointless in 9:31. Meanwhile, Prucha played nearly 21 minutes and picked up an assist, and Dawes was minus-1 in 17:35. Lindstrom could be the odd man out here. He was doing well, until the numbers game shot him in the foot.

Peter Mueller was also a healthy scratch – he needed a lesson, with three points in nine games since returning from a concussion.

Hanzal missed because of an undisclosed injury.

Give Antropov three points in two games with his new team. Ditto for Zherdev since they acquired him.

Sean Avery picked up his first point since November 30, in his second game back. He played 14:29.

The Leafs lost Jonas Frogren and Mike van Ryn (of course) to LBI's. They have recalled Anton Stralman, who has been red hot for the Marlies.

In keeping with yesterday's post (in the ramblings) about my deadline deals in my leagues, I will tell you what went down in my other keeper league. This league has similar rules to the other one, except every team competes in the postseason and there are less trades allowed (five, instead of six).

League 2: This one is finishing up its 19th year. I won it last season and was probably favored to finish first or second this season. However, the team was hit by injuries (and defections) like I've never seen: Jagr, Whitney, Gonchar, Green, Hemsky, Briere, McDonald, Franzen, Arnott… the first three or four I was able to compensate with my depth or with a deal, but eventually I just couldn't keep up. In fifth place, I could either hurt my team and lock up fourth, and take a run at third… or I could take a decent playoff team and try to improve it, while perhaps making my team a little younger.

Trade 1: I moved Dumont, Arnott and Steen; acquired Lupul, Fehr and Gerbe. Thank goodness the two Preds heated up lately, or they would not have made my trade partner's pro team. But they got hot, and gained him 24 points in the deal. I'm banking the Preds not making it, and Fehr continuing to see ice time (though he is pointless in five). Gerbe was a solid prospect to add.

Trade 2: I moved Hemsky, Neal and a third for Setoguchi and Makarov. Obviously, getting a Shark was a nice coup, though Seto has just 10 in his last 21. I paid a lot for him – overpaid, in fact. But if the Sharks go to the semi-final, he will be good for 12 points. That will mean a lot in the playoff pool.

My team now:

PRO: Malkin, Hossa, Setoguchi, Eriksson, Huselius, Franzen, Lupul, Tkachuk, Jordan Staal, Satan (oops), Brind'amour, McDonald
RESERVE: Fehr, Ryan Whitney, Goligoski, Filatov, Gerbe, Caputi, Osala, Makarov
PICKS (3 rounds): 2009 – 1st, 2nd; 2010 – three 2nds, two 3rds; 2011 – one 1st, two 2nds, one 3rd. I have all my sup picks (a sup pick is a one round draft held in January – this past January, I drafted Neal and Osala)
