Dobber Sports

2009-03-10

Hey guys. A quick late note. Don't forget about DobberBaseball as we approach the end of the hockey season. Especially if your favorite team is out of it, give fantasy baseball a try to give you that year-round fix. If you join a league and want the edge, the guide is only $3.99 for the next five days before it goes up, so get it while you can.

Due to the craziness of the trade deadline last week, and some site-related things I have been working on over the last couple of days, the Fantasy Prospects List will not be updated until about tomorrow afternoon. I am partway through, but sometimes you just have to take a breather and give the ol' brain a rest!

Angus here. I will be returning with my second annual 'Prime Cuts of the Year' team over the next few weeks. Last year I did the same, breaking it into three parts. Here is Part 2 from 2007-2008.

Alexander Semin has 13 points in his last eight games.

Loui Eriksson has seven in his last five and is on pace to finish with 39 goals. Since he started the year with one goal in seven games, he has 31 goals in 59 contests. It would seem that he will get 40.

Alex Frolov is in one of his zones, with six points in his last four contests.

The Eric Fehr-Tomas Fleischmann duo has cooled off, with both players pointless in the last four.

Blake Wheeler is pointless since Recchi's arrival. I think that's what you'll see through the end of the season and into the playoffs, barring an injury.

Mikhail Grabovski is pointless since Antropov left – I had figured he would benefit from that.

A report came out on February 20 about a possible link of some sort between the Kostitsyn brothers and the mafia. Andrei had seven points in four games prior to that story coming out. He has one point in seven games since.

Both Danny Briere and Marty Biron hope to be in the lineup tonight. For Briere, it would be just days after leaving a game with another groin injury. He was centering Gagne and Knuble in practice.

Even though, between Picard, Kuba, Lee, Karlsson and Campoli they seem to have the problem solved, the Sens continue to try to bolster the odds of finding that gem that can tally 50 points from the blueline. They signed undrafted rearguard Craig Schira out of Vancouver (WHL). Think Danny Syvret II.

Finally getting into the Wild lineup due to an illness to Burns, Kurtis Foster is now out of the lineup with a groin issue.

It looks as though Nathan Horton will be out of the lineup for at least a couple of weeks. He has a broken finger and underwent surgery on it. Brett McLean is taking his spot on the second line, so you may see a pop there. McLean tends to perform in these situations.

With two points last night, Teddy Purcell has six in his last five – clearly benefitting from the move of O'Sullivan.

It will be interesting to see how well Anssi Salmela does in Atlanta. We'll soon find out, as he has been recalled. Keep an eye on this, as he could quickly become that d-man help you have been looking for.
The team has gone 5-2-0 of late, but the Habs fired Guy Carbonneau. Bob Gainey will take over. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, as the Habs continue to make changes in every way possible, short of a trade (and it's too late for that now).
