Edmonton prospect Linus Omark has signed to play in the KHL next campaign. He apparently wanted a guaranteed contract from the Oilers for max dollars and they were not interested. Omark is ranked 167 on my prospect list, but would have surged into the top 60 had he signed in the NHL instead. Thanks to fzusher in the forum for the link and translation.

Ryan Malone broke his hand. 'nuff said there.

With the Panthers losing last night, don't count on Vokoun playing next game. It's possible, but don't count on it.

Andrew Ference is out for the season – he may play in Game 1. Matt Hunwick will remain in the lineup as a result.

Simeon Varlamov made 29 saves tonight and will probably be the backup in the postseason for the Caps, despite Brent Johnson's return. If you had to pick a rookie goalie to take the starting job and carry his team deep (like Cam Ward), he would be the obvious pick.

Washington prospect Sami Lepisto has a lacerated spleen and is out for the season.

Jordan Staal has 10 points in his last 11 contests. Next year is his fourth season, so that is probably going to be the year you've been waiting for from him. And when he starts rolling, the two superstars will get that much more space.

Just a reminder – Fleischmann is out of his slump so he'll keep piling up points for a couple of weeks. He has five in the last three days after going 14 games pointless. That's how he works.

Anaheim signed their latest undrafted small forward out of college. Dan Sexton led Bowling Green in scoring this past year with 39 points in 38 contests. At 5-9, 165 the 22-year-old is in tough. Look for at least two years in the AHL before deciding on his potential.

With Ryan Jones back in the lineup, Hornqvist was a healthy scratch. Cal O'Reilly is still hanging in there though.

Not only did the Islanders lose 9-0, but they were outshot 57-12. That was with Mark Streit back in the lineup.

Eric Staal, Erik Cole and Anton Babchuk each had four points.

Although Price took the loss last night, he was peppered with 44 shots and stopped 41 of them. It was a desperate NYR team. As a Price owner, I would be encouraged by the result.

Newly-signed Christian Hanson scored his first NHL goal for the Leafs last night. He has been playing 13-15 minutes a game. I would not expect more than 35 points from him next year though. His PIM total should be around 70. Nothing fantasy-worthy, really.

Now that Dallas is out, are they tanking their games for a more favorable lottery position? Does Marty Turco really have an injury? And if so, is Matt Climie the answer? I mean – Stephen isn't that bad, is he? If I own Turco, I would not expect him to play this season…the team really seems to be tanking, no? Food for thought.

Doug Weight has signed a one-year extension with the Isles. Expect more of the same – an injury that costs him 20 games, and tallying 40 points in the 60 he does play.
