Eric Maltais, who pens Croaks, from the Fantasy Frog, gives you his take on most of the players from a fantasy standpoint. Some may differ from what you find in the DobberHockey Fantasy Guide, but it’s good to have several viewpoints.

Umberger, R.J. C CLB 82 26 20 46 -10 53 11 234 11.1 18.77 2.90
Shame on you if you thought last year’s playoff performance would translate to this season. He’s simply a 50-point player.
Upshall, Scottie RW PHO 74 15 19 34 7 89 7 192 7.8 14.59 1.29
Scored more goals in 19 games with the Coyotes than in 55 with the Flyers. We’ll see him score 20 goals and 40 points for the first time in 2009-10.
Valabik, Boris D ATL 50 0 5 5 -14 132 0 16 0 15.26 0.05
The only defenseman other than O’Brien who could surpass 200 penalty minutes.
Van Ryn, Mike D TOR 27 3 8 11 2 14 4 53 5.7 19.62 2.37
The guy just can’t stay healthy.
Vandermeer, Jim D CGY 45 1 6 7 1 108 0 31 3.2 16.02 0.19
has the potential to put up 20 points and over 120 penalty minutes.
Vanek, Thomas LW BUF 73 40 24 64 -1 44 26 211 19 17.20 3.85
Legitimate 40-goal scorer and there are very few of those.
Veilleux, Stephane C MIN X 81 13 10 23 -17 40 1 146 8.9 15.80 0.40
Nice career as a grinder who set career highs in goals and points.
Vermette, Antoine LW CLB 79 16 25 41 -7 50 12 174 9.2 18.35 2.19
He was awful during the first half, scoring 3 goals in the first 38 games, but has lived up to expectations since and has really found his place in Columbus. Count on him for 60 points next year.
Versteeg, Kris RW CHI 78 22 31 53 15 55 16 139 15.8 17.03 2.45
Surpassed all expectations by scoring 20 points in the first 19 games of the season. Has excellent AHL numbers in the past so the talent is there, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a small drop in overall production next season.
Visnovsky, Lubomir D EDM 50 8 23 31 6 30 17 86 9.3 23.01 5.03
Was on pace for 50 points which is what you can expect for a full healthy season, but there’s only a 50% chance of that happening in his case.
Vlasic, Marc-Edouard D SJ 82 6 30 36 15 42 21 104 5.8 23.90 2.94
As long as the Sharks power play remains this strong, he’ll continue produce at this pace.
Voracek, Jakub RW CLB 80 9 29 38 11 44 4 101 8.9 12.67 2.14
He’ll steadily improve and start by flirting with 20 goals next season.
Voros, Aaron C NYR 54 8 8 16 -9 122 3 66 12.1 11.18 1.58
Came back to earth after an incredible couple of weeks to start the season. You want him for PIMs and nothing else.
