The Flames fired Mike Keenan. We won't know what this means until they hire the new coach. Although, Keenan was criticized for playing Jokinen with Iginla far too much when they clearly didn't click. Perhaps with a new coach that won't happen now.

Pavel Datsyuk's foot is actually broken. He missed tonight's game and it could be awhile before we see him back.

This one's for Lanky – Mat Schneider and Max Lapierre underwent some kind of surgery…oh wait a minute, wait a minute – it was "successful" surgery! Hey, it's Friday night, the lowest traffic time of the week. I can reuse old jokes and beat this dead horse as much as I want.

The KHL has a war chest. With $31 million set aside as a league, they plan to use that to help teams with bonuses and exchange rate differences when luring players from abroad. Full article here.

Pavel Datsyuk has an injured foot that may cause him to miss tonight's game. If so, Ville Leino will slide into the top six nicely.

Chuck Fletcher will be the new GM of the Wild. He was assistant GM of the Pens for the last six years, so hopefully that will mean better drafting and more offense, but we shall see.

Phil Kessel will reportedly be out for six months after yesterday's surgery. That could mean that he will miss as many as 20 games. I'll be using "65" as his projected games played in my fantasy guide.

Daniel Ryder has been released from his tryout contract with Providence. Where he goes next is either going to be Europe, the ECHL, or retirement I am sure. A prospect can't take a year off like that and expect an easy return.

The Kings signed their fourth round pick from 2007, forward Dwight King to an entry level deal. He has not been on my radar, nor do I see any reason to put him there at this point. You are going to see a lot of 2007 draftees signed over the next 10 days as teams rush to avoid having them go back into the draft.

Dobber Nation – next podcast is out on MONDAY. On the show, Chris Mason talks about some of the kids on the Blues; Regan Bartel, voice of the Kelowna Rockets, will tell you just how great Jamie Benn is – and what to expect from Tyler Meyers, Mikael Backlund et al; From 670 The Score in Chicago, Jay Zawatski gives you some inside stuff on some of the Blackhawks; Matt Bugg comes on to talk up some draft eligibles for next month's NHL draft; and yours truly will be on to talk about some of the top players not in the NHL, who will be profiled extensively in next week's release of the DobberHockey Prospects Report. That's MONDAY!

Look at this ridiculous, ridiculous, unbelievable goal by Malkin. BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE when he wants to be:
