Info on the Prospects Report can be found HERE.

Peter Zezel has passed away. Details and story can be found here . He was a valuable member of the Maple Leafs and had a lot of fans, myself included. Sad news

The Rangers have come to terms with prospect rearguard Michael Del Zotto. He is profiled extensivley in the Prospects Report. He has a shot at making the team in the fall, but I would put my money on 2010-11. He'll be a good one.

My article over at the Hockey News today focuses on a couple of future breakout players in Detroit.

The Caps signed undrafted free agent pivot Jake Hauswirth to a three-year entry level contract. The 6-5 forward had decent numbers in the USHL, but as a 21-year-old that is to be expected. That being said, he was one of the most impressive youngsters in Washington's development camp last year. He'll need to apprentice for a year in the AHL before being considered, but he is a (long shot) dark horse for modest NHL points if he sneak into the top six (and Eric Fehr ends up failing).

The Blues have signed Jay McClement to an extension.

Our local European expert "fzusher" is reporting that Anaheim prospect Petri Kontiola has signed in the KHL. He got a raw deal, as you may have heard in the latest Dobber Nation…

Pat Quinn has been named head coach of the Oilers and Tom Renney his assistant. I like Quinn as a coach, although his power play can be frustrating – lots of circles and not enough shots. Still, this should open up the offense a little more than the last coach – not that MacT was defensive by any stretch, I'm just sayin…

TSN is reporting that Viktor Kozlov has signed with a KHL team. This new league is fantastic, the NHL couldn't ask for anything more:

NHL – "Hey KHL, can you take some of our aging 50-point borderline top sixers so we can have room for 20-year-old future stars?"

KHL – "Sure!"

NHL – "Perfect! Thank you!"

Sergei Fedorov has reportedly been offered pretty big money, considering his age and fragility, to play for Magnitogorsk of the KHL. His brother, Fedor, plays for that team.

The Islanders will reportedly NOT buy out the contract of Jon Sim, in case for some reason you are in a keeper league with 50-man rosters and you owned him as your 48th man. Ah, the dead news days of May…

Sergei Gonchar has three assists in the four games since he returned from his knee injury. He is wearing a brace on it and it is improving with every game.

The league is reconsidering their stance of starting the NHL Final as many as nine days after the semi-finals end. A new start date is in the works.

Phoenix prospect Alexander Nikulin has returned to Russia and will play in the KHL next season.

Not interesting from a fantasy standpoint, but beggers can't be choosers, the Habs are reportedly close to signing a contract with defenseman Alexei Emelin.
