Major update to the fantasy guide posted. Also the player spreadsheet is updated.

Heatley to the Sharks. Cheechoo and Michalek the other way. Analysis to come soon…

No surprise here – Theoren Fleury will get a tryout with Calgary.

I think this was unreported – but Paul Gaustad is saying that he had offseason sports hernia surgery. I have no details on whether that will cut into his season. It may, for the first couple of weeks at least. I’ll let you know when I find out.

Steve Zipay is reporting that Dubinsky is now “officially a holdout”. He is not in camp. The Rangers aren’t so much cheaping out on the price as they are refusing to give him a one-year deal. They want him signed for multiple years so that he doesn’t have arbitration leverage next summer. He wants that leverage, or else a higher salary to compensate for it. If this isn’t solved within 10 days, he is at risk of not being in game shape for the season opener. I don’t think he’ll miss any games though. Just worried about injury risk.

Patrick Elias does not know if he will be ready in time for the season opener. He is still feeling pain from his groin surgery three months ago, according to Fire and Ice blogger Tom Gulitti. Roll him down your lists a little.

It looks like it is down to Nashville and Toronto in trade talks for Phil Kessel. He’ll thrive in either place, as he will be a first liner and see 20 minutes of ice time. Not possible in Boston.

Mats Sundin has not talked to the Canucks and has not even thought about playing in the NHL yet. C’mon, it’s September. You know he doesn’t think about hockey until December.

Regarding Wayne Gretzky’s future and impact on Phoenix – I gave a pretty long blurb about it in the latest Fantasy Guide update.
