Angus here, Sunday morning. Some good games last night.

Oscar Moller has been assigned to the AHLGreat move, as he isn’t NHL ready yet, and will develop much better playing top line minutes down there as opposed to fourth line minutes with the Kings.

Sergei Shirokov has sustained a minor knee sprain and is out for a few days. I still think he makes the Canucks.

The Nick Foligno, Mike Fisher, Peter Regin line combined for 10 points last night. Does Regin make the Sens? He sure has a good chance.

Artem Anisimov scored an absolutely beautiful goal last night, completely undressing a Bruins defenseman before turning Tim Thomas into a pretzel.

The Red Wings signed Tomas Tatar to an ECL. Awesome player – several years away, but with star upside.

As Angus mentioned last night – Shirokov lined up with the Sedins. He delivered, posting a pair of points.

Caputi/Tangradi watch: Caputi did indeed line up with Malkin last night, saw over 15 minutes of ice time but was held pointless. This battle will go to the wire (and I would love to see both make it).

Milan Michalek played with Alfredsson and Spezza last night. Cheechoo played with Fisher and Kovalev last game.

Brett Sterling played with Krog and Crabb. They’ll be his linemates in Chicago (AHL). It looks grim for Sterling owners.

Big game for the young Russian line in New York. Grachev, Lisin and Anisimov were in on two of the three goals. Grachev is the long shot to make the team, but he should be a lock a year from now. He’s one of the best prospects out there and there could be a point this season where he gets up to No.1 on my Prospects Rankings.

Ville Leino – two points and a plus-3. That sure beats Bertuzzi’s zero and a minus-2. Leino’s on the squad and I wonder if he’ll surpass Bert on the depth chart by Christmas?

Nashville’s Mike Santorelli had two points playing on the second line last night. It’s hard to count this overacheiver out and right now he has the edge on that last top six job. Wilson has the edge as the third-line center. Cal O’Reilly was pointless again, but was used in a checking role (lots of PK time).

So who will play with Lecavalier and Tanguay? Karsums or Downie? My money is on Downie for the first 10 games, and then Karsums later in October. Las night, however, it was neither one. Carter Ashton played with them. He only saw 10 minutes (Veillieux saw the rest), but it’s a signal that TB is really looking at him and considering keeping him – at least for a nine-game stint to start the year. Those who bought my fantasy guide will notice that Ashton is the new entry on my Calder Predictions list.

O’Sullivan is playing so well this preseason that it seems like he’d flourish on the third line. Two more points last night playing with Comrie and Stone. Comrie had four points. The two of them are making Stone look good!
