Week 1 Fantasy Stock Market

Rich Peverley

This week I will be taking a quick look at two players on each team. The first will be a player whose value is on a sharp rise while his counterpart will be a player whose value is resembling Nortel in 2001. Bear in mind that this “value” shift is based on the first week of the season, which is a very small sample to work with. However, I believe it is never too early to start making note of possible trends, and by knowing first, you can act first.

Now before anyone goes nutty and starts screaming about my inclusion of guys like Luongo, Brodeur, and Eriksson, remember that this is just based on the first week of the season. I am not saying these guys are washed up or you should trade them, but I am saying you should monitor them closely to see if factors like age, sophomore slumps, or playing on weaker teams may hinder their production this season. Feel free to bring up any guys I may have missed, or to question my inclusion of anyone in the comments section.

On another note, for those of you who are in pools that allow daily roster moves, I am about to give you some information that could definitely help you win your pool. Visit the website www.goaliepost.com and you will get a daily update of that evening’s starting goalies. The guy who runs this site has connections coming out of his ass, and he updates the nightly starters throughout the day. Pay attention to this site and you will have the upper-hand by knowing when to start your backup guys. (I just verified the site address and noticed he is charging $10 a year now … still well worth the info he provides.)

Finally, I am looking to get a group of guys from the Winnipeg area together for a monthly or bi-weekly Dobber Hockley Night. We will get together at a local watering hole, watch the games, swap lies, and talk hockey. Anyone who is interested please let me know in the comments section and I’ll get the info out to you.

Peace Out,

Burnsy
