Last 11 games for a few Panthers: Weiss has 15 points. Frolik has eight points. Reinprecht has nine points. Horton has 13. I hope you listened with the buy low recommendation! Florida spreads out the ice time, but lately both Horton and Weiss have been seeing in excess of 20 minutes per night – they are the one-year guys you will want to own.

Frolik doesn't have the same one-year value, but his keeper league value is immense.

My draft strategy of taking Nashville's top line paid off for once! Dumont, Arnott, and Sullivan combined for nine points and plus-8 in the overtime loss last night against the Wild. Sully seems to be rounding in to form a bit – definitely a good buy low candidate. As long as he has the legs and hands, he should be a solid point producer.

The ageless Andrew Brunette keeps on producing. Now 36, Brunette is on pace for close to 30 goals and 66 points. He has never relied on his speed so that probably benefits him, as skating is often the first thing to go with aging forwards.

More like the Mikko Koivu of old tonight – two points, four shots on goal, and two penalty minutes to boot.

Roberto Luongo was solid last night in New Jersey, and will be starting again tonight against the Flyers. Expect Raycroft to play on Saturday in Carolina (the 10am game time probably scares the Canucks a bit, as that is the same game time when Luongo tore his groin last season in Pittsburgh).

Backstrom (Minnesota) looks awful this season – no confidence, bad angles, bad glove hand. I'd dump him in one-year leagues. Not worth it to continue bleeding points.

Chris Stewart and Matt Duchene are forming great chemistry on Colorado's second line, and combined for six points last night against the Panthers. Stewart in particular had a monster fantasy game. He finished with one goal, two helpers, four shots on goal, and 19 penalty minutes.

Paul Stastny had a monster four-point game for the Avs. His goal totals are way down but he should end up around 80-85 points.

As it stands right now, the Smyth-for-Quincey deal is looking like quite the win-win. Quincey has been far and away Colorado's best defenseman. He had two helpers last night in almost 25 minutes of ice time. I bet Detroit wishes they still had him right now… (I know, they had no room at the time, but still).

Marc Savard's cap hit is actually lower than the reported $4.2 million per season (it is $4.007… cue the James Bond jokes). It is a massive steal, even if Savard is bordering on an age where offensive forwards start to decline offensively (34 seems to be the magic number). With him back, the B's are 4-1, and have scored four or more goals three times during that span.

Patrice Bergeron continues to excel in all situations – he had another three points. While Savard is the engine and Chara is the presence, Bergeron is the heart and soul of this team.

Speaking of Chara – awesome fantasy line: 25 minutes played, two helpers, plus-3, and six shots on goal.

Alex Edler's recent production (eight points in last four games) is not an aberration. That isn't to say I expect 164 points from him, but he possesses massive upside and is starting to show it more and more. After a sluggish start he is playing important minutes (and most importantly for owners power play minutes). Expect him to approach 50 points this season.

I have a very in-depth article on Sweden's squad for the WJHC coming soon. I'll also have pieces on Canada, the US, and Russia. Sweden's roster is scary good. They have a plethora of recent 1^st and 2^nd round picks, and they have a defenseman (Adam Larsson) who is just 17 and already dominating the SEL.

Cha-ching. Kane and Toews have signed five year extensions with matching $6.3 million cap hits. Keith's contract is a monster – 13 years, 72 million. Kane and Toews took a slight cut to stay in Chicago, and Keith took one of the cap-friendly contracts. The Hawks will be in tough to make room but they have a ton of options – they can trade (lots of tradable players), or bury a player or two in the minors.

Khabibulin has yet to return to the ice and is still suffering pain in his back – raise your hand if this surprises you? And the Oilers passed on Roloson for fear he may break down…

Kostitsyn the elder and Hal Gill are both returning to the Habs lineup tonight.

Jakub Kindl will make his NHL debut tonight for the Wings, as Rafalski is out. Kindl is big and solid with the puck – I had an article on him in the summer as someone to watch for in keeper leagues.

I generally like Ray Ferraro, but he was getting on my nerves last night. I know the Luongo-Brodeur match-up was overhyped, but he kept spouting off about how the game meant "nothing." Doesn't that fly in the face of logic? Sure, individually, each game may not mean much, but together they are the basis for evaluation.

Burrows continues his hot streak with a goal (that wasn't really his), and an assist.

Zajac fired a Parise-like eight shots on Luongo (Parise ended with five). Elias was the best Devil, I thought.

The Devils are a sound defensive team, but the drop-off from Martin-Oduya to Greene-Salvador/White is pretty obvious.

The Rangers claimed Christensen off of waivers. They will quickly find out why he was on them. One of the softest players in the league.

They also waived their under performing backup, Stephen Valliquete. Chad "ocho-cinco" Johnson has been recalled after getting off to a great start in the AHL.
