Michael Grabner recorded his first career hat trick in less than 14 minutes of ice time last night. Now that is production! He also fired six shots on goal. Grabner probably could have potted another two or three – he was terrorizing the Ducks defense with his speed all night. He now has 56 shots on goal in only 17 games this season.

Antti Niemi started his third straight for the Hawks last night. Unless he really falters during these final few games or in the postseason, we may have seen the last of Huet this season.

Jaroslav Halak gave the Flyers a great preview of what they should expect if they decide to trade for him this summer. He was absolutely sensational, stopping 35 saves for the shutout.

Jeff Carter, who is nursing a foot injury, isn't expected to miss any time in the playoffs, but he may not play in any of Philadelphia's remaining regular season games.

Best-case scenario for Michael Leighton as he recovers from a high ankle sprain? Three weeks. Seems a tad optimistic to me.

We saw the good Mike Smith a few nights ago, and the bad one reappeared last night. He gave up four goals to the Rangers in the first period alone. I'll never own him in any pool format – don't think I could handle his incredibly inconsistency.

Amazing article from Elliotte Friedman, who recently travelled to Russia and got to see and visit many important people. This is the definition of a MUST READ!

Expect Mikael Samuelsson to return either Sunday against Minnesota or Tuesday against the Avalanche. The same also holds true for Steve Bernier.

Don't forget to check out Justin Bourne's daily blog. As a recently retired professional hockey player, he has insights that are unique and very interesting. He's a pretty darn good writer as well.

John Tavares currently has 47 points. Steven Stamkos had 46 last season. Too bad Tavares won't be playing with Marty St. Louis next season…

Dmitri Kulikov has had a very successful rookie season, all things considered. He has scored three goals and added 12 assists. Since the deadline, he has been logging heavy minutes for the Panthers as well. He doesn't even turn 20 until October!

Funny story here – Wade Belak cracked Steve McIntyre's helmet with a punch. So naturally, after the game, McIntyre got Belak to sign it! He apparently is a huge fan of Belak's.

Bizarre play – Steve Downie goes in for the hit and accidentally spears himself:
