PA Parenteau has three points and is plus-3 in five games since his latest recall. I get the impression that coach Tortorella really likes him and wonder if he will get a fair shot next fall. He’s been a stud in the AHL for years.

Sean Bergenheim has been on fire of late. Perhaps it is because of the streaky Blake Comeau, or perhaps he is the cause of said streak, but Bergy has eight points and is plus-9 in his last four contests. The two of them line up with John Tavares, at least they were prior to last night (I didn’t see the game and the Frozen Pool is not updated yet).

Flames are out, Avs are in. Now the question is will Peter Mueller get back in time for postseason action, and if you own him in a keeper league – is this something that you would want? Frankly, I would prefer he relax over the summer and come back strong in the fall.

So big nights for high-ranking DobberHockey prospects – Drayson Bowman, ranked 16, scored his first and second NHL goals for Carolina. Tyler Ennis, ranked 17, tallied three points for the Sabres. Both will get long looks in camp and frankly I think they will both make the team. I would say (let me just set up my dartboard here…) Bowman will get… 37 points, while Ennis gets 48.

I’ve been watching some Penguins’ games and I’m getting the feeling that Alexei Ponikarovsky is not thought highly of by coach Dan Bylsma. I mean, by no means is he the second coming, but c’mon. The other wingers on the team are led by the likes of Pascal Dupuis, Chris Kunitz, Bill Guerin, Tyler Kennedy and Ruslan Fedotenko. Winger for winger, the situation in Toronto was more competitive. Given the terrible alternatives for Crosby and Malkin, I would think that the baloney Poni would see 20 minutes of ice time and first-unit PP time. He’s a second-line, 60-point guy… but that puts him tops among PIT wingers. Anyway, his ice time is usually around 15 minutes and I don’t understand why. But the message is clear – don’t expect a huge postseason.

So Sid becomes the third player to reach 100 points, and Ovechkin scores two – including an empty netter with one second left – to tie Crosby for tops in the league with 48 goals. Stamkos also scored to give him 47. Down to the wire!

Atlanta loses, Philly wins. Atlanta is out. Rangers have their backs against the wall, but play the Flyers twice this weekend.

After one win in six games after Michael Leighton went down, Brian Boucher seems to have settled in. He has won three of five, giving up 10 goals in that span with the shutout last night. I think the Flyers will hold off the Rangers.

It took awhile for him to come around after Jeff Carter got hurt, but Claude Giroux now has six points in five games.

Fabian Brunnstrom got back into the Dallas lineup thanks to Brenden Morrow’s foot injury. He played 13 minutes and was pointless. Morrow is day-to-day.

Matt Climie allowed five goals in his one and only start of the season for Dallas.

Remember how Niklas Grossman was a revelation in the plus/minus category? He was plus-12 in 12 games to start the season. Well after going minus-4 last night, he is minus-1 on the campaign.

The Tennessean is reporting that Jason Arnott should be back in the lineup Wednesday after missing eight with a concussion.

Ilya Kovalchuk was held pointless in his first game back in Atlanta. Meanwhile, Niklas Bergfors was a minus-3 against his former squad.

Vancouver has signed Swedish free agent netminder Eddie Lack. He would gain value quickly if the ‘Nucks ever moved Corey Schneider.
