Just a couple of days after Jaromir Jagr shot up my Top 300 Keepers list, he announces that he has signed with Omsk of the KHL. Thus ends his NHL career. So there you go.

Angus here – BREAKING NEWS: Andrei Markov is out with a torn ACL. It was originally reported by a radio host in Montreal, and Bob McKenzie has just confirmed.

Chesnokov from Puck Daddy is reporting that Steve Valiquette has signed to play in the KHL next year, for what that’s worth.

You won’t find this in any of the Phoenix newspapers (disgusting), but the ‘Yotes have signed highly-touted defenseman Maxim Goncharov to an entry-level contract. Goncharov will be an impact player with an upside not that far off a fellow with a similar last name (minus the “ov”). I think he will make the team in the fall, but his early numbers will be similar to what you saw from Victor Hedman last year. That is – not much. Goncharov is profiled extensively in my Fantasy Prospects Report.

I’m sitting 269th in the DobberHockey playoff pool. Though, I’m pretty much toast if the Red Wings get put out. Another thank you to our prize sponsors – Easton for the S17 stick (for first), and CoolHockey.com for the custom jersey (for second). ross10019 is hanging tough in first with 204.5, bobbruin is 202.5 and Maddog300 is at 200 points.

So Antti Niemi followed up a rough Game 1 with an equally rough first 5:02 of Game 2 – in all, he allowed seven goals in those 45 minutes. But he stopped everything last night in the final 54:58 (18 shots). My guess is that he was down to his last goal – one more allowed in that first period and we would be seeing Huet in net throughout.

Christian Ehrhoff was a minus-3 in the game.

Duncan Keith, on the other hand was a plus-3. This is notable because he was a minus-5 in the postseason prior to the game.

Troy Brouwer is still looking for his first point, and he is a minus-5 to boot. He looked promising for next season…but not if he can’t get back on that first line.

Give Miro Satan another two points, giving him nine all told. Talk about getting hot at the right time. This performance will make him $2 million. Seriously. Without this performance, I doubt he would be signed next season. Because of it, he will get a one or two-year deal with $2 million per season.

All four of Milan Lucic’s points have come in the last three games.

Ville Leino had a pair of points last night. All he needed was a scoring role, and playing with Daniel Briere and Claude Giroux gives him just that.

Andreas Nodl got into his first two career playoff contests the last two games. But he has been held to minimal ice time. His AHL numbers have been nothing short of disappointing and he is playing his way out of Philly’s future top-six plans.

For the second straight year, Mike Green played the playoffs with an injury. Just a mild one, though (wrist). His full press conference is here.

Daniel Carcillo on how Marc Savard supposedly bit him:
