Despite Johan Franzen garnering in a point in every one of Detroit’s 12 games, the Wings still get eliminated. He is tied for the league lead in scoring with 18 points.

Todd Bertuzzi’s 11 points were the most in his career.

Daniel Briere has 11 points in his last six games.

So far in seven games since his return, Brian Campbell has yet to record a point. Meanwhile, Brent Seabrook has continued to step it up since Campbell went down – he has eight points in his last six contests.

Roberto Luongo’s numbers in the postseason are horrendous. He’s really only had one stellar game and a couple of really good ones. The rest have ranged from ho-hum to crap. If and when the Canucks are eliminated, he’ll have the choker reputation nice and early into his 100-year contract. Meanwhile, Corey Schnieder is trying to decide if he should laugh or tremble with anger. Signing Luongo was the right move at the time – after all, in my opinion he was the best goaltender in the world. But injuries over the last two seasons have changed him.

Joe Pavelski leads the league in shots on goal with 52 and Johan Franzen is next at 48. But it’s interesting to see Evgeni Malkin also with 48 and he really (finally) showed signs of life last night.

After 14 points in five games, Sidney Crosby has just three in his last six.

I wonder what Jim Ballsillie will think if the Coyotes do indeed go to Winnipeg. It sounds like better than 50/50 odds that it will happen. Gary Bettman must be rolling in his grave. Oh, wait a minute…

Bill Guerin was back in the lineup and he replaced – Alexei Ponikarovsky. I would assume that’s a healthy scratch, as he has just four points in 10 games.

Some minor notes from around the league…

📢 advertisement:

– Brandon Bochenski has signed to play with Barys Astana of the KHL next season. He gave the NHL a fair shot, but at 28 the writing was on the wall – he wasn’t going to be a full timer. His 13 points in 28 games was pretty solid last season and he’s had spurts of success, but consistency was his undoing.

– The Ducks have signed prospect Josh Brittain to an ELC. He is a decent prospect and a potential second-line power forward, but is three or four years away from the NHL and then add a couple more before he reaches nice fantasy numbers. He is ranked 336 on my prospects list.

– The Sabres signed d-man Nick Crawford to an ELC. He had a monster 70-point season in the OHL and his 59 points were fifth in the league. That said, he was 20 and although the offense is impressive, it doesn’t mean nearly as much as it would had he done this last year. Look for two or three years in the AHL at the very least.

– The Flyers signed Cory Tropp’s and Jeff Petry’s teammate at Michigan State, undrafted free agent Andrew Rowe. The winger stepped up the offense in his junior year with 17 goals in 38 games. But on the Flyers, the best chance he has is to develop his checking game.

– The Flyers also signed undrafted Russian goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. We will have a profile and extensive outlook on Bobrovsky in the Fantasy Prospects Report. The fourth annual e-magazine is set for release June 1 and is also available in French.

– Columbus has signed big Swedish goaltender Gustaf Wesslau. The undrafted Wesslau is 25 years old and has intriguing upside, but I really don’t know much about him.

– These signings will continue full bore over the next three weeks as the prospect signing deadline approaches. Each team, and correct me if I’m wrong, has but 50 contracts that they can have at one time.

Happy Mother’s Day to both of my female DobberHockey readers (I’m kidding – really there are three of you). (kidding again). Alright, stop reading the ramblings and go give your mom a call
