I am going to be on the TEAM 1040 in Vancouver tomorrow morning (around 9:30am PST) with Iain McLetchie to talk fantasy hockey. Any players/teams/topics you want me to cover?

Defensive prospect Ivan Vishnevskiy will have a great shot at cracking Chicago’s roster this fall, especially if Hjalmarsson’s offer sheet isn’t matched. Chicago is going to need quite a few roster players on cheap/rookie contracts.

Brian Connelly is another defenseman worth watching in Chicago. The Blackhawks signed Connelly out of college last summer and he had a very strong first pro season with Rockford in 2009-10, finishing the season with 35 points in 78 games.

The Hawks re-signed Jassen Cullimore to a two-way contract yesterday, but he won’t see many games at the NHL level.

It sounds like both Chris Butler and Andrej Sekera will be seeing increased minutes in Buffalo this season.

Is it it crazy to think Tyler Ennis could be the second highest scoring Sabre in 2010-11?

Minnesota is reportedly interested in Mike Modano. I don’t see many places where Modano would have fantasy significance for 2010-11, but Minnesota would probably be one of them.

If I were Chicago GM Stan Bowman, I'd match the offer sheet to Hjalmarsson and let Antti Niemi walk if his arbitration award is too high.

I'd feel more comfortable with Hjalmarsson and Crawford in net than Jordan Hendry as the number four defenseman with Niemi between the pipes.

Jordan Schroeder has unsurprisingly been a standout at Vancouver’s prospect camp. Look for him to challenge for a spot this fall. I’d say his odds of making the team out of camp are 25-30%.

Don’t get caught up with where a player slots in on a respective roster. For example, Claude Giroux may be the third line center on Philadelphia this coming season behind Richards and Briere, but he isn’t a third line center.

He won’t play third line minutes, he’ll see tons of time with the top power play unit (as he is Philadelphia’s most creative offensive player), and he is very versatile. A player may be on the third line due to depth reasons, but there is a huge difference between playing on a third line and being a third line forward.

The 2010 DobberHockey Fantasy Guide is only three weeks away!

I’ll add more to the ramblings this afternoon. Not much going on right now…
