Kyle Beach fights fellow prospect Mathis Olimb and takes him out of camp. Footage below.

The Sens have signed Roman Wick to a one-year, two-way contract and Bryan Murray insists that he will get a very long look in training camp. Upside for this year is Peter Regin.

Dallas has signed prospect Scott Glennie to a three-year entry-level deal. I don’t see him on the team this season and I have my doubts about the season after that one. Great prospect with nice upside, though. But how much of his junior production was from linemates? Brandon fans will argue “none” and give me tons of examples I’m sure. But I really do want to see him play a season without Brayden Schenn or Matt Calvert (each of whom outscored him).

Everything is strangely quiet on the free agent front. A prominent name texted to reporter Andy Strickland: “What’s going on in this league? Why is nobody getting signed?” The answer is this – all the offers that are out there are of the “low ball” variety. The dumb teams have their budgets full to the cap (or beyond), and the smart teams that have plenty of room are trying to keep it that way. I have a feelng that if you take my little UFA ramble from Monday and the reasonable prices I put forth, and cut those prices in half, that is what the UFA’s have on their table right now and they are probably feeling insulted. But if they don’t take these offers, they’ll be left without an NHL job.

Alex Seren Rosso reports that Pavol Demitra is considering KHL offers.

Helene Elliott is reporting that Kovalchuk left yesterday afternoon without a contract and that his agent Jay Grossman left last night without reaching a deal. On Monday he met the coach, as well as Dustin Brown, Jarret Stoll and Matt Greene and toured the practice facility.

The Penguins are still looking for one or possibly two wingers with upside. They would like to keep it at a one year deal I’m sure, and keep that number as close to the $1 million mark as they can. I have a chart in order of who I think would work best, and the odds I give such a signing.
