Fantasy Guide – updated through Monday night – can be found here. I hope to have the next update posted by this evening.

The Sharks have cut Cam McIntyre. They are quite high on him, but he has been injured throughout camp.

Zach Boychuk has been cut by the Hurricanes. As I noted earlier this week, GM Jim Rutherford had stated that Bowman was having a better camp than Boychuk – and Boychuk had been the player expected to make this team. Because Sergei Samsonov is hurt, Bowman could stick around for a few more games yet, as the team currently has 25 players.

Interesting note – Florida has claimed Michael Nylander off waivers from the Caps. They will pay his $3 million salary and have him bolster their Rochester (AHL) lineup. Doesn’t hurt them cap-wise, but seems like a lot of money to pay an NHLer. I guess Washington now owes them a favor!

The Copper and Blue blog reports the following ine combinations for Edmonton: Gagner with Paajarvi and Hemsky; Horcoff with Hall and Eberle; Cogliano with Penner and Brule. Even though line combos don’t always stick, I believe the top six will remain in the top six. This doesn’t bode well for Penner’s outlook.

Another surprise out of Tampa – they waived Marc Pouliot. I really thought he made the team…so Harju continues to surprise. The guy can’t cut it in the KHL, but seems to be doing fine in the NHL.

Joe Colborne and Zach Hamill are among today’s cuts by the Bruins.

Adrian Dater reports that Kevin Shattenkirk has been cut.

Some more roster cuts to report – Columbus has cut 10 players, including Matt Calvert, Chad Kolarik, Ted Ruth and Cody Goloubef.

New Jersey has cut Jeff Frazee and Marcus Nilson – so his NHL comeback is over.

The Caps have recalled goaltender Braden Holtby, which indicates to me that there is more to Semyon Varlamov’s “general maintenance” time off than meets the eye. I have said before that Holtby could be a major player in fantasy circles this year, as both Washington goalies have been hurt before…

The Penguins have cut Brett Sterling. I’ve said all along it was a long shot, but I think he did enough to earn a recall later this season. But for all intents and purposes, the Sterling experiment is over. Does this mean that Dustin Jeffrey has made it? I doubt it…but with four cuts on forward left he is absolutely still in the mix.

Other notable cuts by the Pens – Conner, Johnson, Wagner, Curry and Thiessen.

The Ducks are still trying Matt Beleskey on the big line with Perry and Getzlaf. I’m not seeing it work yet, though I did snap up Beleskey in the final round of a recent keeper draft.

I had this link sent to me on a promising prospect (Tomas Jurco) profiled this week on Yahoo. Our own Matt Bugg had this guy profiled over a month ago right here. Yep, we’re on the ball over here.

Of the players in contention for a spot on one of the big lines in Pittsburgh, Mike Comrie and Dustin Jeffrey have the most preseason points with three each. Eric Tangradi and Brett Sterling have two each. There are two spots available in my opinion.

Olli Jokinen was injured last night and is officially “day to day” for “general maintenance”. This doesn’t help poolies any, though it “seems” like it is not serious.

Columbus prospect Tomas Kubalik is having an impressive preseason. He is clicking on a line with Huselius and Vermette. He was barely on my radar prior to this, but has definitely caught my attention just as he caught Angus’ attention in Saturday’s ramblings. Kubalik had 75 points in 58 games last year in the QMJHL.

Just a reminder that our Frozen Pool feature gives you full stats and line combos… for the preseason. Simply click “Fantasy Tools” via the menu on the left or the tab up top. In “Report Generator” you can select “Points” or which ever category you want to see, and it will spit it out for you immediately. If you don’t know about this tool or haven’t tried it out yet and you visit this site frequently for the last few months – then you should be embarrassed with yourself! This thing is GOLD and it’s your job as a poolie to dig for GOLD! I shouldn’t have to point it out to you here, you should just know by now ;)

Notable CUTS (and as always, I will post these throughout the day, so you can find yesterday’s cuts in the ramblings from yesterday by clicking “next” below)
Roman Wick, Kaspars Daugavins, Jim O’Brien, Mike Brodeur – OTT
Jamie Arniel – BOS
Crabb, Boyce – TOR

The Avs have signed their fifth round pick from 2010 Mr. Luke “Sky” Walker. He was born in 1990, which I believe is six years after Return of the Jedi. So I’m certain Mr. and Mrs. Walker knew what they were doing when they named him Luke. Anyway, his junior numbers show decent multi-category potential, but as a fifth rounder you know he’s a project.

If the Habs want to lose more games, then by all means they should cut P.K. Subban because of his inexperience and wildness. But I’m sure they’ll choose the winning route and keep him up.

In an ongoing quest for fantasy greatness, DobberHockey has partnered up with the HockeyPoolGeek crew. On Page 85 of the Guide, there is a wealth of information about what the HockeyPoolGeek can offer you. More information is available here. Want to see some of the tools that HockeyPoolGeek uses in action? Last month they audited a team of Jeff Angus’ in a Head-to-Head league. Check the results out. You don’t see the mainstream fantasy outlets like TSN or Yahoo with tools like Frozen Pool or Hockey Pool Geek. Because they look at things from too high a level. They aren’t in the trenches like the DobberHockey crew – these tools are gold and will give you a bigger edge than anything else you’ll find anywhere.

What a battle! Brayden Schenn vs. Luca Sbisa:
