Angus here. If you want my take on a player/team/trade/situation or anything else fantasy-related, post it below in the comments! I’ll do my best to get to each one for tomorrow’s ramblings.

Dobber: The Wings have cut Tomas Tatar. George Malik claims that he bulked up his upper body too much, similar to what Jan Mursak did a couple of years ago.

The Preds have cut my projected backup goalie Mark Dekanich. Clearly, Anders Lindback outplayed him and won the backup job in Nashville.

The Blues have cut Ben Bishop. By all accounts, he had a very very strong camp. He’s a former Dobber favorite, so it’s easy to swing him back into my good books ;). Bright future.

Joe Colborne and Zach Hamill have been sent down to the AHL. Sticking around is Jordan Caron, a big scoring winger who I snagged in a prospect draft last weekend. Caron has 35 goal upside and it looks like he’ll get a chance to start the season in Boston.

With so many games now going on, if I miss something important, let me know in the comments section below. I’ll add it in as soon as I can!

Random PIM note: Christian Ehrhoff has been playing with a lot of snarl this pre-season. I’m not sure if this will translate… but as a 45-50 point defenseman, any increase in PIM would increase his value in many leagues dramatically.

Major cuts from yesterday:

Kevin Shattenkirk (COL).  Evgeni Dadonov (FLA). Ryan Ellis (NSH). Tyler Eckford (NJD).

Jeremy Roenick heavily criticized Atlanta's handling of Dustin Byfuglien yesterday. I'll disagree for a few reasons:

Byfuglien was dominant on the PP in the playoffs. He'll still play up front on Atlanta's man advantage.

He was inconsistent with 12-15 minutes per game during the regular season. As a defenseman, he'll play at least 18-20.

He's a natural defenseman. He played it in junior and thoroughly enjoys playing it more.

He's a tremendous skater.

Cody Hodgson has looked decent, but he hasn't exactly stepped out and grabbed that available top six spot. The Canucks are probably debating whether or not they send him down to dominate for 20-30 games on Manitoba's top line with Jordan Schroeder.

The injuries to Streit (six months) and Okposo (two to three months) have to hurt the fantasy value of every single Islander. John Tavares will be on even more of an island (pun intended) than he was last season.

Brian Gionta officially named captain – great move. Leader in every sense of the word.

The Penguins have cut Brett Sterling. He wasn't able to seize the opportunity given to him after multiple shifts with Pittsburgh's star players in good situations (power play).

Put up your hand if you are surprised that Anaheim has looked horrendous defensively so far this preseason. Anyone? The Ducks looked like they were icing an AHL defense against Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The sad part is there are probably a few AHL defences that are comparable…

Jamie McGinn is a darkhorse to score 20-25 this season. He's big, solid on his skates, and he skates to the net hard each shift. If he gets some shifts with Thornton or Pavelski (hell, even with Couture he'll get chances), keep tabs on him.

James Duthie with a great read on Gary Roberts. I'd love to train with him for a few months… it is nice to see the focus he is putting on teaching nutrition with these young players. A great exercise program is only as good as the fuel you put in your body before, during, and after.

Viktor Stalberg has been horrible in the pre-season for Chicago so far. He would have to be placed on waivers if sent down, so look for him to earn a spot with the Blackhawks in some capacity. He won't be in the top six unless he turns things around very quickly.

Who went out and snatched Brian Boucher off of the waiver wire over the past few days?

Jack Johnson will hit 50 points this season. Write this one down and thank me in April.

Mike Peca ripped on Bouwmeester during TSN's intermission panel on Tuesday night. One quote in particular, "”[Waiting] for seven years of upside, upside I don't see in him.” Peca mentioned how Bouweester has been misrepresented as an offensive defenseman because he is a great skater – I 100% agree. He doesn't have a great shot and his offensive instincts are average at best.

After being criticized by Brian Burke, Nazem Kadri replied with a two goal, one assist game last night for the Leafs.

Peter Regin looks to be picking up right where he left off last season. He was Ottawa's best skater during the playoffs. He's big, tenacious, and skilled. A much better scoring line option than Nick Foligno.

Look for Jared Cowen to earn the final spot on Ottawa's defense out of camp with Kuba out for few more weeks. He won't have fantasy relevance for a few seasons, though.

TJ Brodie has been turning heads for the Flames this preseason. Only one problem – Calgary already has a whack of defensemen signed to one-way deals. He's a fantastic skater who loves joining the rush (the light should be going off in your head, poolies).
