Further to the Leighton note below, his target date for a full practice is November 20. Generally give a player two weeks of full practice after a lengthy absence.

Evgeni Malkin (bruised knee) is questionable. The Post-Gazette also reports that Kris Letang (hand) and Alex Goligoski are playing a little hurt. If Malkin can’t go, my money is on Dustin Jeffrey coming up. Jeffrey leads WBS in scoring with eight points in eight games.

The Oilers waived Deslauriers because they knew  he would get through to the minors. After all, Erik Ersberg and Tomas Griess did. Dubnyk is the better goaltender and I’m holding him on my bench in one league, awaiting the inevitable Khabibulin injury.

Linus Klasen has been sent back down to the AHL. Not much of a look, but he’ll be back. I can see him making a Leino-like impact in about 18 months, except he scores as opposed to sets them up.

Now it’s at the point where Michael Leighton owners should be worried – I warned that if Bobrovsky is TOO good, Leighton will have trouble getting his job back. I also warned that he doesn’t have to be too good – he could just be “good enough”, because hell – it’s the Flyers. I could go 6-2 with that team in front of me. Anyway, Bobrovsky has done it. He’s 6-2-0, 0.918 and 2.39. Start shopping Leighton now that he’s back skating.

Nothing against Chad Larose, but what’s he doing with Eric Staal? Give me a break. Staal needs Skinner, O’Sullivan (yes), or even Ruutu. Or get Boychuk or Bowman up there. I’d rather they go through growing pains on that line than have the steady Larose there. From a fantasy standpoint, that is. And isn’t that why we’re all here?

Brian Campbell made his season debut last night, playing 20 minutes and going minus-1. He didn’t see a lot of power-play time, as the team went with four forwards and of course Duncan Keith.

Interesting to see Tomas Kopecky see over four minutes on the PP.

With the Sens sending Robin Lehner down to the minors, Pascal Leclaire is obviously ready to at least backup Brian Elliott. Lehner – a future star – stopped all 10 NHL shots that he has faced in his career.

Anahiem has recalled Nick Bonino. I thought he would make the team, but he had a horrible camp. But he has nine points in eight AHL games and has earned this re-call.

Nikita Filatov is back up to the second line, with Vermette and Umberger.

Puck Daddy reports that Daymond Langkow has been shut down from exercise again. His career is in serious danger.

Ilya Kovalchuk – six points in 11 games, minus-4. Got him in two of my four leagues. Hated that he went to New Jersey.

Buffalo prospect Luke Adam is AHL’s rookie of the month. Think about this – if he becomes AHL’s rookie of the year this year, Buffalo will OWN that award. Last year Tyler Ennis won it. The year before that – Nathan Gerbe.

Jason Pominville is looking as though he will return from his concussion next game for the Sabres. Didn’t he just have a setback? If this is another case of a player not being fully honest with his doctor… anyway, I don’t like it. And if I owned him, I would shop him and use this “he’s coming back” news as my selling point.

Another Buffalo prospect, Zack Kassian, has signed a three-year entry-level contract. He had a strong camp, but I’m thinking Luke Adam makes the team next year – Kassian the year after.
