Henrik Lundqvist and Roberto Luongo are the two best goalies in the league. There are always going to be goalies who step up from year to year (Miller, Bryzgalov, Rask, Ward, Rinne, etc. etc.) but I'd take either of these two in almost any league format over the rest.

Taormina saw almost three minutes of PP time. Greene saw under a minute. Both were pointless.

Hedberg started for the injured Brodeur.

Evgeni Grachev is pointless in five NHL games – he has yet to play over 10 minutes in a single game. Not NHL ready yet.

Artem Anisimov has eight points in his past nine games. I could see 60-65 from him this season. Very mature for a young player.

Tim Thomas and Michal Neuvirth were both chased last night. Thomas wasn't awful (it was more a case of Claude Julien trying to get his team fired up), but Neuvirth looked a bit tired (not surprising).

Semin is on pace for about 44 goals and 76 games played. I could see him hitting the goal total with a few less games played.

Eric Fehr is off to a slow start – I have come to the conclusion that he will never reach his offensive upside on the Capitals. He simply needs more than 10-14 minutes per night to produce. Great shot, solid offensive instincts, but he isn't a defensive/energy forward.

Buffalo's struggles continue. A mediocre team not getting the all-world goaltending that they received last season.

Drew Stafford will miss some time after sustaining an upper body injury last night. He's actually been half-decent this season (which is a surprise considering how bad he was last year)

Montreal's fourth line of Pouliot-Halpern-Darche impressed the heck out of me last night. Not sure how long they have been together but they were dominant.

The trio combined for three goals and seven points.

Andrei Kostitsyn is pointless in three games.

Florida has fired 50 or more shots on goal for two consecutive games now. What?!?

After five straight pointless games, Jussi Jokinen recorded an assist last night. He needs more ice time, but to get that he needs to start playing better.

Stephen Weiss had three points last night, doubling his season total to six.

Mikael Backlund has one point in his past six contests. A slump or two shouldn't be a surprise, especially considering the lack of offensive talent on the Flames roster.

Price had another rock-solid game. He is so composed when he is on his game. Big, square to the shooter, athletic. How's that for a goaltending scouting report – read it and weep Goldie!

Loui Eriksson has seven points in Dallas's last two games. I used to think his production was about 70-80% due to Brad Richards, but I am dropping that number to 50-60%. Great two-way player.

From ESPN – Eriksson/Richards/Neal have combined for eight goals and seventeen points in the past three games.

Sami Lepisto had a hat trick last night – too bad two of them were own goals…

After a slow start to the season, Yandle has four points in five games.

Jimmy Howard returned to the Detroit lineup and made 29 saves for the win. Expect him to play a lot with Osgood on the shelf for a few weeks. Howard is 19-0-3 in his past 22 starts…

Lubomir Visnovsky has four multi-point games in his past six. He's on pace for 63 points, right where I expect him to end up.

Brandon Dubinsky is a notorious strong starter, and he (along with Callahan and Lundqvist) is carrying the Rangers right now. I have mentioned this many times – along with Jamie Benn and Peter Mueller, Dubinsky was the most impressive forward I saw play live in the WHL.

He is big, gritty, fast, and very skilled. He isn't a prototypical top line center but he has the upside to play that position (assuming his wingers are talented goal scorers). I keep flip-flopping on his upside – two years ago I was convinced he was going to be a future 75+ point, two-way center. Last year I dropped that to 60-65. I am on the verge of raising my expectations back up…
