Scottie Upshall is on pace for 27 goals – if he ever plays 75 or more games (which is unlikely), I could see him scoring 30. Very streaky, but he has a nose for the net and a pretty good shot.

Nice to see Bouchard finally make his return to the Wild lineup. I didn't catch the game but it sounds like he was about where one would expect him to be. Pointless in 14 minutes of ice time.

Mikko Koivu's numbers aren't as low as I had thought. He had 71 points last season and is on pace for 65 this season. I think he is a pretty safe bet for 65-75 points… not an elite fantasy player but it is nice to have reliable players to hedge against some riskier picks.

PK Subban is a healthy scratch for the Canadiens tonight.

Thanks to Stats87 for bringing this to my attention on Twitter today – Marc-Edouard Vlasic has zero points this season. He has never been billed as an offensive defenseman (no shot, not great with the puck), but zero points?!?

Marco Sturm has been dealt to the Kings. I doubt the Bruins will be receiving much of anything back (pick, throwaway prospect, maybe). Welcome back Marc Savard!

The DobberHockey meet-up will take place one week from today at the River Rock Casino in Vancouver. The event will kick off at 6pm and run until 9 or 9:30pm in Lulu's Lounge. Food will be half priced for anyone attending, and we have some sweet prizes and giveaways.

We are trying to get a rough idea for numbers, so post in the comments below if you are interested in coming!

The Flames had five defensemen on the ice at one point last night on the power play (noted scorer Cory Sarich was playing in front of the net).

Henrik Sedin has 99 assists in his last 81 games.

Semyon Varlamov was great for the Caps last night – his fourth straight win. As a Neuvirth owner, I am disappointed but not really surprised. I made sure to have two capable starters aside from Neuvirth for this exact situation. Will be a flip-flop all season (especially when Varlamov gets injured again).

Tim Thomas is 9-0-0 on the road to start the season, which is the best road record to start a season since Glen Hall in the mid 1960's. Sorry Rask owners!

Sounds like Savard is very, very close to returning. I'd expect him to be slowly transitioned into the lineup. His return obviously hurts both David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron. It helps all of Boston's wingers, as the top three lines will all now have a capable center on it.

Devan Dubnyk had a great game for the Oilers last night in Montreal (36 saves on 39 shots). I've never been a huge fan of his (seemed lanky and awkward at the WHL level), but he has looked pretty good this season.

Ales Hemsky is quietly on pace for 24 goals and over 60 points. He could easily bump that point total up 10 or 15, but I don't see him scoring more than 25.

Ryan Whitney has yet to score this season, but he does have 18 points in 23 games. He has been arguably Edmonton's best skater this season (not a huge accomplishment, but worth nothing).

Like most 50-60 point players, Mason Raymond will be very streaky with his production. He had a slow start but had three goals last night against the Flames.

Much of Raymond's struggles can be attributed to a hand injury that he seems to be finally over or almost recovered from.

Jeff Tambellini continues to look really, really good on Vancouver's second line. Is he playing with adrenaline because of the hometown connection, or is he here to stay? I'll walk the line and say somewhere in between.

I will say that Tambellini is quickly relevant in all pool formats once again. He isn't big, but he is quick, smart (the key), and accurate with his shot.

Oh, and the Canucks are 8-0-1 with him in the lineup.

I have added a few new wallpapers to the DobberHockey collection – Pekka Rinne, Pavel Datsyuk, Mike Richards, and Ovechkin/Backstrom. Check the entire collection out here. New ones are posted at the bottom.

Don't forget to check out DobberBaseball. Community is still growing there, but things will be picking up as the season approaches.

Daniel Alfredsson is more injured than he is letting on – there is no way he has lost that much skating speed in about a month.

Drew Stafford may play later this week, as he is almost recovered from a shoulder injury. I'd expect him to slot in on the third line and move up if he plays well. Stafford and Lindy Ruff have never really seen eye to eye, but he still has upside that makes him worth watching in most league formats.

Is it time to sell high on Andrew Ladd? I am standing pat in the one league that I own him in – we count hits and PIM as well, so even if he regresses offensively, the value is still there.

Speaking of selling high, I'd be looking to do that with Patrick Sharp (I also own him in a few leagues, so I effectively just blew my cover).

Where are you on the daily/weekly lineup changes argument? In general I like the weekly format as I don't have to commit as much time to my pool, but it also requires more research in terms of goaltending match ups. Getting work horse goalies is obviously of huge importance in weekly leagues.

Daily leagues with unlimited moves are essentially won by those with the most time on their hands – with a moves limit it levels the playing field, but it still requires a lot more time and attention than weekly leagues do.
